Here is a closer pic of the center block. First I quilted closely around each motif using matching thread.  Kind of like quilting in the ditch although there really isn't a ditch.  Then I echo quilted the rest of the center block using light ecru thread.  Stippling would have worked also, but I'm trying to branch out a bit.  I really enjoyed doing the echo quilting too.  At first I was going to do cross hatching in the corner triangles, but after going in the one direction, I decided that was enough.  Then I  just did a cable type motif in the outside border.

simplicity suits the rose wreath, and the colors are so wonderfully restful...wish I could see the texture of your quilting (greedy me, lol) Glad such a lovely piece is finished and out to be admired as it should be.  Inspiring me to go and do the same with at least one of my applique blocks that have been on hold, Janet

Very pretty, Janet! I'm glad you decided to finish it.

I appliqued the center block of this quilt 20 yrs ago.  Never got around to doing anything with it  until last year when I finally added the borders.  Then it was set aside again so this week I decided it was way past time to quilt & bind it.  It is now hanging in my office.

Annette, I'm glad you're feeling better. Colds/Flu can really knock you out.

I'm probably going to machine quilt most of it - maybe will hand quilt around the applique, but between my arthritis and time crunch, I'll probably machine quilt most of it, not send it out to a LA quilter. We'll see....

QD, you're making excellent progress on your anniversary quilt!  Will you hand or machine quilt?

I have so darned many quilts to finish I don't dare start another applique project, so if you don't hear from me for a while, this is why!

Finally, after a month, I'm feeling much better.  Need to get some exercise to get some energy back though.  I hope I never have to encounter a cold like this one again!!

Now onto more positive things.  2018 must be a better year!!

Thanks everyone. I'm inspired and hope to keep my promise to myself. The only New Year's resolution I've made.
