I love the border on your quilt Barbara.  Even if it takes you a lot longer to finish quilting it, it will be worth it in the long run.

handstitcher, your block is exquisite.

Beautiful handstitcher!!!!  The detail is amazing, and what you have inscribed on the bible.  I have my gggrandmothers bible and my mother's name is the last listed.  I haven't put her death date on it yet, or her brother's.

Finally finished this Baltimore block! It's been on my wish list for years, but took me a long time to figure out how to do it. The originals (I've seen photos of 4) all used the same fussy cut prints for the vase between the birds. After searching in vain for years for good alternatives, I decided to go with embroidery and inking. The Bible opens up and inside is the inscription with verse from my g-g-g grandmother's gravestone with my mother's name and dates on the opposite side. I had always planned on this being a block for my mother and she passed away while I was working on it.

I enjoyed seeing your quilts, Barbara! Love the combination of piecing and appliqué. They always work so well together in quilts. I'm sorry to hear that hand quilting is so difficult. I also find needleturn appliqué easier on my thumb but have to limit my hand quilting. Very frustrating.

getting back to the hand quilting on some quilts that have been waiting to be finished for far too long...hands just do not do what they did prior to that nasty accident, but I am working on accepting what is, and enjoying these two quilts as I slowly work on them in my better hand times.  Posted a few more pics in my album s on home page for this group.  I have been so inspired by the work y'all have shared here.  Brightest blessings of the season to all of us

Love all of your baskets, Lynne.

Another lovely quilt Lynne.

Barbara, I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad accident.  That has to be very frustrating.

I also have physical problems that causes me to not be able to hand quilt or hand embroider as much as I used to.  Gets frustrating, but I just plug along with trying to do some every day.

Love it, Lynne! I especially like the odd blocks tucked in between the baskets. It's like finding a fun surprise. The colors all work together well. Nice job!

This is my latest needleturn applique.  291 basket blocks, and alternate blocks to complete the 313 I needed.
