I think with all the new and exciting things to learn about quilting, I will always be a "newbie" quilter! I have been discovering and learing about quilting for about 8 years. I have had many mistakes and many successes, and I look forward to learing from all of you!

Hello. When reading your comments, I see so much of myself in each of yours. I joined a Quilt Guild, but as a newbie, I just felt so overwhelmed by what they could do. My first couple of months, I went through the "oh, I'll never be as good as they are" stage, but have finally decided that I am playing with fabric to make me happy. Therefore, while I still am anxious to learn all that I can, I enjoy my time at the machine, a lot more. Hopefully as a member of this group, I will continue to learn, grow and have a good time. Nice to meet you all. Happy New Year.

Hi, I am excited to be here. I have been quilting for about 3 years now. I still do the easy stuff. I am very intimidated about freemotion quilting but am determined to learn. I do alot of wall hangings and door banners and table runners. You know, easy stuff. I have quilted several lap quilts. I am so energized by this whole group since I know of no other quilters. I learned everything from going online and also the library. thanks for letting me join!!!!!

My first quilt was a log cabin quilt. It was a struggle for me because I didn't have anyone to teach me the right way. I made it for my son and his wife's first Christmas. Of course, I look back and I can see all the mistakes that I made while making it. I want to learn, learn, learn. I'm really happy that I am part of this group. Darian

I was introduced to machine quilting back in the mid 90's but I have not quilted consistently enough to feel like I am an advance quilter so I thought this group would be a great place to rebuild my confidence! I am in desperately need of a refresher course.

I'm really looking forward to being a part of this group!

I've been quilting for about 4 years but like Leslie, I'm primarily a piecer. I've machine quilted a couple of small projects, used my embroidery machine to piece one (See photos: Debbie's mistake) and just started doing some utility quilting (that's about all I can handle) on a panel project, just to get the feel of it. I find that keeping the back from puckering is my #1 problem. I don't have a large surface to clamp or tape backing down first and I have dogs so I cannot use the floor. Anyone have any guidance for me?
