A place for quilters in the Panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas to connect. Those in towns close to the Panhandles are encouraged to join!
Location: Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles

This group does not have any discussions yet.
Thanks, Laura. I stay pretty busy piecing and quilting my own quilts. I've made quilts for most of my family members and friends. I also make charity quilts for my church, the pregnancy center in Woodward and I just received a commission to make a king size quilt. I stay in touch with my quilting friends in Missouri via email but it's so much nicer to meet, discuss new things, learn something new and of course, eat (every quilter's favorite.) I've been thinking of writing some nonfiction articles to teach kids how to quilt. I'm sure it's been done before but with research, maybe I'll find a new niche. My new computer should be arriving tomorrow. Then, I won't have any excuse not to write. :-)
Marilyn, wish I knew some groups up your way to tell you about. The furthest north I know of is the group that meets in Putnam every Weds, and the Taloga retreat in July. I think there is a group in Seiling, but none of those are very close to you. :(
Vicki, sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. The guild meets at the Senior Citizen building in Clinton...I don't have an address for it, sorry. Yes you can bring your daughter. I'm not sure what the program will be this month, as I missed last month's meeting due to illness.
Vicki, I'm glad that you got info. to help you join a group. Good luck! Way to go Laura! Wish I could join the group but I live too far away. I found out there is a guild in Woodward but they meet Thursday evenings and I quilt on Thursdays.
Hi all! I'm not exactly in either panhandle, but am in Arapaho, OK.
Vicki, the Western Oklahoma Quilt Guild meets in Clinton, on the 4th Monday of the month, and has a lot of members from Elk City. There are also 2 annual quilting retreats held at the Civic Center, one in March, and one in October.
One of the guild members has also started up a monthly 'bee' held in Arapaho, on the second Tuesday of the month.
When I hear of other quilting get togethers I'll try to remember to post them here.
Getting together with a group would be great. Guilds are a great way to meet other quilters and learn new skills. On the map, Elk City looks close...but we're about 80 miles away. :-( Maybe some day I'll mosey down your way and we can chat.
I hand quilt with a group in Fargo on Thursdays and piece quilts at home several days a week. I make charity quilts (I don't like that term) and quilts for family and friends. I machine quilt, too, on a Gracie frame. I really love the whole quilt making/quilting process. I just finished quilting two baby quilts, a throw and a queen size quilt.
A few miles north of Gage in Ellis County.
