I came across this portrait displayed at the Radisson Hotel while attending the World Quilt Festival last August. As you can see, I am partial to quilts with cats in them...

Aida, I drove to Maine 2 days ago and then to NY yesterday and noticed that the leaves are changing big time... I think it's because we haven't had much rain. Certainly it's not because the temps have been 30ish!!!

Goodness, Cindy.  Hopefully all things will end up happily with your home.

Went back to the Janome dealer today to give him the accessories I still had from my old machine.  So I went in and in a serious note I told him, "Dave, I have a serious problem", he turned into a panic mode, and got all flustered, "What's wrong?" he asked.  So I told him, "I didn't want to stop sewing.  The other night DH thought I was already sound asleep and I forgot to turn off the light in the sewing room, so he went in, and was surprised to see me still on the machine.  He didn't hear a thing, and when I looked at the clock it said 2 a.m." Dave's eyes lit up and flashed a wide toothy smile.

So got some piecing done, and I tried to practice with the free motion quilting, and I completed two tops so far.

We had some rain last night and the temp dropped to about 60 degrees, and sure enough, when I driving north I noticed the leaves have already put on some color.

Oh my, falling short already. Happy belated birthday Gina! Sounds like you had a fabulous time. That's a lot of celebrating in a short time. And congrats on the new job . You're going to be great at it.

Now, time to kick it in gear and get myself up to speed. Spent the past four days working outside from daylight to dark. Hubby had rented a track hoe so we could get the yard under control. All kinds of creeping things taking over and choking out things. In the process hubby hit the house with the bucket and damaged the corner of the roof, gutter system and soffit/ facia boards so he has another repair to do! On top of that plumber was here last Friday to install my new kitchen sink, had the old one out and everything disconnected and removed from the house. Took the new sink out and it was busted! So now no sink or dishwasher until the new sink gets here. Have to wash them in the bathroom! Am waiting for the proverbial third shoe to drop.

So ladies, I will get organized, get something planned and let you all give your input. It will most likely be along the line of what has been posted. So, give me a few days to catch my breath after the happenings of the past week (and do my dishes) and I hope to be ready to jump in with both feet.

Have a super day everyone and bear with me.

Congratulations, Gina! Volunteer work is usually a great way to get the job you want.

I have been working on UFO's trying to get used to the new machine. She's 'purring' along nicely, and I love the fact that the setting for the 1/4" seam is truly a quarter-inch.  I will take photos of the projects when it's not so hot outside since I want to hang them out on the clothesline.

Cindy, so nice of you to take over this group.  Sandy, you have been a great motivator for us all, and thanks for your great leadership.

School's started and already the admins are trying to decide whether or not to let the kids go home early because of the heat!  Why bother, the parents won't be home and they'd be out playing in the heat anyway. Sheesh! Granted that the rooms aren't air-conditioned, but how about taking out a piece of cardboard and fan themselves with it.

Hi Sistahs! Thanks Sandy for being our leader for so may years and thanks to Cindy for picking up the reins! Well, I found a job! Yeah for me!!!! I'm going to be working with the school district helping less fortunate students and their families with daily needs. I have volunteered with them before and loved it so I think this will be a good fit. We have been busy around here with birthdays. My DH's 50th was August 28th and my DS was the day after. So we had a bday party for them and then my family through me a surprise bday party last night. It was alot of fun. Well I am going to try and get in my sewing room today or tomorrow. We just got back from camping yesterday and we are cleaning and getting the trailer ready to store it for winter. Have a goo day all and I will let you know how the job goes. xoxo!! Gina

Aida...sounds like a great purchase! We expect to see amazing projects coming from you! Amelia sounds like she is a chip off grammy's block! Great start making doll clothes! She will learn so much from you!

Sandy, cute quilt pattern...those babies keep coming!

I have a quilt to finish for a dear friend"s mother. She cross stitched it but never got it together and then died. So, I will finish it for them. Need to jump start myself back into a project!

Cindy, a table runner would be a great idea! What about a reversible Thanksgiving on one side...Christmas on the flip side...

Aida, congrats on your new machine!!!

Cindy, I think that is a great idea!

Hey ladies, we've been a bit quiet in here again. Speaking of a project, I had an idea pop into my head to exchange something we make that will help us decorate for fall/Thanksgiving. Perhaps place mats, a table runner, wall hanging or whatever. Just a thought so. .... how's that sound Sandy? We can maybe get those cobwebs cleaned outta our gray matter and try to get a bit creative.
