New Vintage Propellers Challenge!

Hello everyone we will be making the Vintage Propellersquilt for our new challenge.

The pattern can be found on this site under the Freebies tab. I chose this pattern because it looks as though it will use lots of those scraps we all have. You are free to to make your quilt as large or as small as you like. Remember the largest will use up the most scraps. Feel free to use any and all colors. You don't have to stick with one color as your back round. Mix it up! Get creative!

The rules are simple: The challenge starts on Feb. 01st and ends on June 30th. That's it! If you are not able to start on the first, start whenever you have can.

As in the past, there will be a random drawing at the end of the challenge for those of you who finish. Of course the prize will be something quilty. Also this time to make it fun, I will be giving out other little gifts for milestones along the way. These challenge milestones are only known be me.

ok great! I just got back from a week in the sun in Mexico, came home to a winter storm, so ready to hid in the sewing room till spring!

There's no need to sign up. Just start when you're ready. You may post your progress on this thread as often as you like. As for the milestones, they are my little secrets.

With this winter storm looming, it will be a good time to hide away in my sewing room and start this project. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone creates!

Has anyone tried this block yet.I have puzzled with the pieces and they just would not fit.

Hubby pointed out that it cannot be a 6" block if those triangles are 3 3/8 each,then you have the cream.

My changes were to make the CD sizes different. 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 in solid colour and 2 1/4 in cream .

The CB sections were the right length.Is it me or do things not add up.

Had to trim it even and it finishes at 6 3/4 square.This finished size is not a problem but I was ready to bang my head off the table until hubby came in.

I haven't tried it yet but the HST's will finish at 3 which would be 2 1/2 plus the 1inch finish of the cream equals 6. Does that make since?

I have just sewn one according to the directions and it went together beautifully. The half square triangles finish at 2 1/2" and the center strips at 1" . The 2 half square triangles and the one center should equal 6" finished and 6 1/2" unfinished. The only thing I had to watch out for it matching up the little 1 1/2" squares so that they did not look crooked.
