I am a long time member of "Quilting With Us" (QWU). I used to give virtual workshops here. Like many others, I have ventured out as QWU became more quiet.
We are getting the warning that QWU is at risk of being disabled. I fear this is a sign that QWU will one day be no more.
It has become like family here and the thought of losing the friendships we have developed has giving me a sad heart. Like many dark clouds, there is a silver lining. When I ventured out, I created a quilters social network, much like QWU. I never mentioned it, for it was a conflict of interest. However, in this dark hour, it is time to let others know there is an alternative. It does not have to end here.
I would be honored for QWU members to join "Pattern Pastiche". If needed, we are more than happy to create a group for your new home.

I love to travel but I love coming home!
Hello D.......what part of So Cal are you in? I'm the Antelope Valley, which is about 45 miles from LA.
In Alaska - Roseann???? Oh my! That would be quite a temperature difference. Like you, I like to travel; but, I'm not sure spending 3-4 months away from home would be my idea of "getting away". Good luck to you!
Hubby wants to spend the summer months in Alaska and while I love to travel for 2-3 weeks at a time, 3 1/2 months seems a bit much to me and I have to admit I find it daunting. Besides that, while I am not a person who does well in the sun, I do like to swim and I love the monsoons. I will miss them.
D - I'm sure SoCal has loads of quilt shops. I would find one I like and in which I feel very comfortable. Then start going to the open sews. You'll meet good people that way. I'm in Tucson.
Hi D. ... and welcome! I'm not in Southern California ... I'm in Phoenix. Good luck on your move!
Thanks, I am 45nw of Tucson. I regularly go to Tucson.
Hi Shawna. I don't think I've heard of anyone on this group who is in San Manuel but if they're there they will get in touch. Maybe someone in Oracle or Catalina would be close enough.
Hi, I am from San Manuel AZ, if anyone is close by I would like to know. I usually sew by myself and would like to know if someone would like to get together and sew so I can get projects done.
