Welcome Jon, we have been quiet lately but there are lots of techniques tried and tested in the discussion forum above. If you have particular queries put them on here and hopefully one of us can help, or if you are doing a piece of some interest feel free to share with us.

Found the perfect (in my humble opinion) frame for my stumpwork piece at Goodwill.  It will be a gift for our DD.

Think I have strep throat. On meds since yesterday and getting nothing done. Woke up achy Fri morning and thought it was reaction to the tetanus shot I had. Aleve cleared it all up until about 2:30  in the afternoon while we were clearing more things out of my Mom's house. By the time we got home around 6:30 I had severe chills and a low grade fever. Went straight to bed and the next morning headed to one of those urgent care type places. Caught it early, but today my glands are sore. Gee this is fun! lol  DH is actually taking care of me, but I missed Ian's 11th birthday party (his birthday was back in March, but he had a concussion for over a month) and we couldn't take Adelaide and Freya overnight like we'd panned. They said the girls cried when they were told they couldn't come here. Freya was so excited about staying with Grandpa overnight. :(  Hopefully we can take them for a whole week-end soon (if Daddy can go that long without seeing his girls! lol)

Too bad our tax laws make it so difficult for people. When we were planning for retirement the laws were in our favor, now they're not and we have been hit hard the past two years. This one being the worst. OUCH!!

Guess I did very well with one I picked up. An older UK Embroidery book for $9.95. Think I will check it out to see what the internet has on it. Then perhaps I will visit that store again.

Cindy, I think the reason for the high price is the fact that they're all out of print. I ordered a book years ago that was based on the series of books by Ellis Peters called Brother Cadfael's Herb Garden. The book series were medieval murder mysteries (and still in print). I thought my DIL Erika would really enjoy the herb garden book, but I found the same problem in the price when I looked for it! Out tax laws changed and publishers can no longer afford to keep books in print.

Hey Char...your first book by Kay Dennis is among a few stumpwork books I got from the library.  She makes it easy to understand the process ; )
