Good morning fellow quilters one and all. So sorry I have not been on line with you all. I am still fighting health issues but God and quilting are helping see me through. Today I am going to hand sew the binding on my Kim Diehl Buttons and Bows quilt or at least start it. Have to limit how much repetative movements I do.

Got some flowers planted outside yesterday and so enjoyed playing in the dirt.

My best friend had to put her dog down this week. That was so sad. Those little fur people are so much a part of our family. They sure leave good foot prints in our hearts. My Pekingese (Spice) is so much fun and company for me. Last night she was very barky and woke me many times. This morning I discovered what it was all about. She was chasing a fly that had the nerve to be in our space. Found my huge palm plant and a smaller plant dumped in the living room as she was trying to hunt him down. She is napping now from all the night shift work she had to do.

I got the fly so she can sleep in peace. Want to work on a Christmas project some today...yup I'm thinking ahead. Will tell you how it goes if my plan works. The Hen House is up to every Wednesday now. I love it. We call it WIng It Wednesday and the hens come at 10:00 and stay as long as they like. We do so much and talk to our hearts content. FUn is always had by all who attend. Enjoy the day. Love to all., Mary Jane

I have been busy quilting, just finished piecing "Apple Cider" and will hope to get it on the table and quilting it by next week. This isn't the only quiet group, I think only 1 out of the 5 groups I'm a part of seems to be active and sharing on a daily basis.

We've sure been quiet on this group lately! Are we enjoying the beautiful fall weather?! I haven't been quilting much lately, having had to work full time until we find a replacement for our office admin but that should be happening in the next couple of weeks and then another couple of weeks to train her and I'm back to part time. And I am soooo ready for it! The first weekend of October I did our local shop hop, 5 shops in an afternoon - I love that they are so close together but so different in the fabrics they carry. It's not so overwhelming as being in one big store with fabric everywhere. So, enjoy the coming week and start sharing again!

I was wondering if any one has ever washed there Leaders on the big quilting machine. Mine are getting a little dirty. I do have another to replace them with, but thought that maybe I could wash them. New they are $150 for the set. They are zippered, so I can just unzip and replace or Wash them ( I hope). They are only 1 year old, and I don't want to replace them every year. Thanks in advance.

Mary Jane thanks for the update. I am so used to the weather in Georgia it does not bother me all that much. The humidity is bad in the summer months with the heat but it is like the snow and cold up here you know it won't last forever. I am still in Kewaunee right now until the first of Sept, when my DH gets home to help me move. Julia, I hope to get to the quilt show, but I do have an open house that weekend on Sunday. Would love to meet with you again at the show. Just let me know if you can make it. Everyone have a good week and keep cool, this is the warmest in awhile here, just Saturday I was in a long sweater it seemed so cold to me. Of course my kids had to give me grief for thinking it was cold.

Thanks for the message Mary Jane. I went to Nancy's Notions for the first time last week with a group from my local quilt shop (it was one of our QFL road trips.) I loved it. My DH and I were in Green Bay this weekend and I had him take me to Quilters Connection (love that shop), he was teasing me that I have visited every shop in the state because of the recent road trips for QFL that I have taken. But he was real good and came in the shop with me and even took my to another shop in Two Rivers (Sew Much Wool) and didn't even flinch at me buying two kits (in fact it was his suggestion)...he was feeling a little guilty after buying a new driver (golf club) at $400. Is anyone going to the Quilt show in Kewaunee WI, Aug 14 - 16th?

Thanks for the information on the sizzix. A friend had bought the Accuquilt and I was thinking about getting one but the cost was worrisome. Now I don't mind spending money but what I could buy with all the extra if I could find something a little cheaper to cut my shapes. I make the picture quilts with thousands of 1/2 inch squares and rectancles and it takes awhile to cut them all out. So I will be going to Joann's to find the sizzix on my next trip to Green Bay. Again thanks for the info.

Oh thank you Mary Jane you are sweet! I would love to even have 1 other quilter to get together with at my home. I am trying to get a friend interested but just haven't been able to put it together. I love my sewing room, I love being in there, it is my sanctuary.

Julia that Dear Jane Quilt is unbelievable. Amazing. I have always admired them but Oh, the work. Great job in sticking to it to complete the goal. Your sewing room and storage is wonderful too. Isn't it grand to have a place to retreat to to enjoy what we love so much? I just love my Hen House get togethers. We are doing it weekly now. Sometime I['m doing it weakly when I do not feel well but I would not miss it if possible. I brings up my spirits so much when the house is full of laughing and sharing women. Aren't we the best? Two weeks ago one of the ladies (We call her Fancy Feathers" due to the fact that she wears lots of jewelery. She is has a daughter who loves to shop on the net, taught us to make beaded watch bands. That was so fun. She is a great story teller....not sure they are all true.. but it was just like a slumber party when we were girls but we didn't have to go to sleep. I mentioned that and the hens all replied "You slept at slumber parties?" What is with that? Keep on stitching girl. Mary Jane

I also have the Circut, but the programs for that where also about $45. I didn't think I would have to back the fabric. You would have to put it on the sticky board. But I did think I would have to back it. On the Sizzix I didn't use anything. Just cut fabric about the size of the board and cut. It worked well.

I didn't know the Sizzix cut fabric! I did check on the Cricut but you have to back the fabric with a stabilizer before cutting - didn't want to have to do that. Oh well!
