Today, I'm beginning to tackle the houses pattern from Apricot and Ash by Corey Yoder for Moda.  BFF and I have split the pattern & fabric in order to make 9 houses each (3 x 3 layout). No color/pattern of fabric is used twice in each house, so you have to pay attention!  I seem to have gotten the pieces cut out correctly, so I'd better stop while I'm ahead!

I'm dropping off two recently finished quilts at the LAQ later this afternoon.  They are large sized wall quilts,  but she is so darn fast, I'll probably have them back by next week!

Hello. It's chilly and sunny here today.

I'm sure many of my quilt tops do feel jilted. LOL I have so many in so many different phases.

I made my first rhubarb pie of the season today. It looks really pretty so I hope it tastes good, too. I was able to find four asparagus speers, rhubarb to pull, chives to cut and a bouquet of daffodils when I went out in the yard yesterday. The grass is getting really tall already so I hope DS can mow this weekend.

Whee, Kathleen gets to take a hot bath. Enjoy as you luxuriate in the bubbles with your glass of wine and mood music playing.

I should be able to get my Astrid blocks trimmed today. Then I need to count them to see if I made the right number. Trying to lay out a queen size is going to be a challenge.

The quilt top is looking good, Marilyn. Bummer on the siding guy.

Yaaaayyyy Mary Alice has a yard guy!! Good for you! Now make sure he does the work. You stay in the  house and resist the temptation to help. My mom used to hear wind. She would always ask if it's windy out. No mom, it's not windy.

Sound like a very nice ceremony, Froggie. It's nice that you took a lot of pictures for your friend.

Well it's a happy day here for me. And it has nothing to do with the grands. We just got a new hot water tank installed!!! I can't tell you how long I've been taking tepid, very shallow baths! Ugh!! [yes, I prefer baths; I know most people would rather shower]. I haven't steamed up the bathroom mirror in forever. You can bet it will be steamy in there tonight though. I am so looking forward to a hot bath in water above my ankles!

Gee, Barbara, I didn't even know your quilts were planning to marry!!  (Boy, don't make a typo here - we're brutal!)

Had a long telephone conversation with my brother-in-law last evening.  My nephew and his son were there, and BIL was relaxed and grateful for their company.  They live in Utah.  There are no services planned for my sister, per her request.  I plan to write my BIL a long, grateful letter to thank him for everything he did for sis; who was not an easy woman to live with.  (That sounds terrible, and it doesn't mean I didn't love her, but I have never been hung-up on more during telephone conversations by anyone else in my life!)  He loved her and treated her like a queen.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Back later.

I have a chronic cough too, Susan. It is bad, you never know when it will come on, and I can't stop it without lots of water and cough drops. It's especially embarrassing now because of covid. I hope the speech therapy works for you.

What a pretty flower arrangement, Barbara! Those tulips are going crazy, aren't they?

You can give your life insurance to some charity if you like, Alice. No shower because it's windy outside? Mom cracks me up. I'm glad you had a relaxing day.

That quilt is gorgeous, Marilyn! Is it all browns and beiges?

why would you jilt your quilt tops,Barbara? You crack me up.

When I did a lot of CCS, Kim, I would keep a list of what I needed. And I made a list of colors I needed, and Mr. B would go to the store and get them for me for Christmas. That was always fun. I'm glad you found the threads you needed.

It rained overnight, and it's cooler today. It's overcast still. Mr. B has his follow up appointment this morning, so I will be driving him to that. I'm ready to stay home for a while.

My friend's ceremony was so nice last night! I was so happy for her. There were 5 veterans that received quilts, including another one that goes to our church. So, I met them for the first time. I got a bunch of pictures for her. There is a group of women from this small town that make the quilts, and one makes all the labels. It was a very nice label with her name, the exact date, and other information on it. How special! I got a picture showing the label with her and the lady that makes the labels. They said if anyone is a quilter, they are invited to come and work on the QOV's with them. My friend said Do you want to do it? I said sure, it would be fun, we could start with once a month or something. So, we will see what happens. It was only about 30 minutes from her house, I think. It was one of those nice drives that didn't have a lot of crazy traffic.

I better go get ready for my taxi time.

Good morning, another beautiful day. Only about 37 out now but should get to almost 60 today. Maybe a little shower later today. Rain tomorrow.

That's great news Mary Alice.  Hopefully that will free up some time for you to do what you want.

I went to work last night on the Valentine CCS and didn't have the called for floss. It wasn't available when I got the rest. I was able to find it in stock last night along with a few other that haven't been available. I should keep a list of what I need. I did straighten up my stitching area last night before I went to bed.

I am working this morning and then I have a hair appointment this afternoon.

I really need to get my flower beds ready for planting. Not sure what I want to plant this year. The deer have already got most of my tulips and I see the day lilies have been munched on. As long as they leave s little for me to enjoy its ok.

Well I better get myself together for the day.

Have a great day....

Alice, you are a good daughter. Hope the yard man works out. I think the wind makes it feel colder even if it is on the outside.

Marilyn I have a pile of quilt tops that need to be jilted. The small ones, I quilt myself. I have a mid arm and don't use it as much as I thought I would. Loading and moving the quilt are such a hassle. I used to use the Avon shop, too. There is a guy that quilts for the QOV group that does a nice job. His name is Joe Filer. I haven't been there for months so I don't know if he's still doing it.

The table runner was a gift from a group exchange last year. It is really pretty.

Oh guess what, looks like tomorrow might be windy too!  What luck!

Great news ladies!!  Couldn't wait to share.  I have hired a yard man!!  He'll be here on Tuesday to trim lower pecan branches, trim oleanders and around rose bushes.  He'll start mowing once the grass grows and weed eating.  So hopefully that will give me time to tackle the inside of the house and declutter.

Marilyn, mom makes me laugh quite often.  I guess I'm learning to just relax and go with the flow.  When I help her into bed, she sometimes tells me that she can hear the water flowing in the river.  Considering we live about 5 miles away from the river I tell her she's got good ears.  I tell her to enjoy the sound of water because it's so relaxing.

Carol Ann, my sincere sympathy to you and your family for your loss. Praying for comfort and healing for your BIL as well.

Also sending out birthday wishes to you Barbara!  Those are some pretty flowers you received and the table runner is just as pretty. Is that one of your past projects?

Mary Alice, I laughed when you told about Mom and not showering 'cause it was windy outside.  Good that you could laugh it off and say she is like a kid sometimes.

We had a fellow coming at 6:30 this evening to look at our house and give us an estimate on new vinyl siding. (we're just in the shopping stage right now). Well, at 6:15 we got a call from him saying he wouldn't make it as his car broke down.  Now I wonder if the car broke down 35 minutes away and he waited that long to call, or if it just happened on the edge of town. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it better not happen on Thurs. when we now have a new appt set up. We arranged our schedule to fit theirs.  Home improvement people seem to be so unreliable around our area.

Making slow progress on my "Courtship" quilt top. Made and trimmed up a couple dozen more 1/2 sq. triangles this afternoon. Making the flying geese for the next round.  Here's a picture...kinda blurry.

It's been going together pretty good so far. I already have 2 other quilts waiting to be quilted, so am thinking of getting at least one of them machine quilted.  Barbara, who do you like for doing yours? Wish the shop in Avon was still open!

Not much else happening. Will quilt tomorrow, and I am making ham & cheese sliders for our lunch. Everyone seems to like them.

Hope everyone has been enjoying some nice Spring weather. Till later.....
