I love the colors in this quilt.   To me this is a "modern" DWR....not the traditional colors.

Thanks Char.  This was one of those quilts where I was only going to make 1 block just to try out the technique.  The next thing I remembered was finding myself surrounded by D9p blocks!  LOL

I like it Janet. I've seen one before but it was wonky. Your version does make a striking quilt from a simple block.

Char, I think this quilts fits the theme of a modern twist on a traditional theme.  This quilt is a "Disappearing 4 Patch".  It starts out as a plain jane 4 patch block and ends up quite pretty.  I like it much better than the "Disappearing 9 Patch" quilts.

Welcome Michelle.

Is anyone working on something modern they'd like to share with the group?

I have been doing this for several yrs.  I especially like doing this on scrappy quilts, but have also done it when I didn't have enough of 1 fabric for the backing.

Ok I know what a pieced backing really was, I only was trying to say make the back a bit more upscale. I try to sell my quilts. I have a real crazy backing on a table runner, but it was for me and I wanted to use up some scrapes.

This is what I mean by a pieced back (a make do) not a pieced pattern like the front. http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/techniques/finishing/pieced-quilt-bac...
