About this Quilt Along

Before you get started, please read the "Quilt-A-Long Guidelines" located in the "Discussion Forum" or by clicking on the link. The PDF downloads are located below this discussion, scroll down to view.

This "quilt-along" began as a tutorial focused on the use of a positioning pin to help maintain sharp points and straight lines within and between blocks with diagonal lines. The scope expanded to include suggestions for precise cutting, pinning, piecing, pressing and trimming, a sampler quilt to practice skills and a Quilt with Us "quilt-along" group with weekly blogs during the National Quilting Month in March, 2012!

The sampler is not for a first quilt! It is geared toward confident beginners up to experienced quilters who want to increase the quality of their piecing. Please don’t let the word "perfect" intimidate you! Increased precision, not perfection, is the goal.

I have provided eight fabric options for the Perfect Points Sampler.

The Perfect Points Sampler pattern will be using fabrics in the Montecito-Pink PDF. The fabrics listed for each collection are in stock as of 2/23/12. Some may be running low; alternate choices are provided. For those of you who want to select your own fabrics, please look at the suggestions on page 2 of the Montecito-Pink PDF. To see what each collection looks like, click here.

Download any one of these fabric option PDFs (to get started). We will be using the Montecito Pink PDF. These are color options only, not required.

It's beautiful.  I really like your color choice.  The appliqued flowers on the snowball blocks really add dimension.  I'm getting ready to hang mine up again this spring.

Fantastic work and it came out lovely!!!  I haven't done anything with mine in so long....*blush*.....I've got so many projects right now....the paperpiecing part is what threw me...not like others that I've seen and I've not done it before.  Perhaps it's time to pull mine out and redo that part...*sigh*...great job on yours and I like the paino key border...very striking (oops, pardon the pun! LOL) and I like the embroidery too.  That's cool!

Beautiful job Gico! Love the soft colors. I am still working on mine. I will pull it out soon as it is one of my UFO's.

Thanks !  I did in fact added some applique flowers with my embroidery machine to the two snowball blocks.  I also rearranged the blocks and added the piano keys border since I wanted a larger quilt.

Well, I have lesson 2 done . . . it's been so long that I've looked at it. But it seems yours looks different. Did you fussy cut the snowballs and also rearrange the blocks or something? At any rate, it's just beautiful!!

Finished, at last.  The top had been completed for a while, but still needed to be quilted.  Sent it to my local LAQ recently and here it is, bound and labelled.  I named this quilt "Summer Days".

I am still working on mine. I just pulled it out again. I work at it in between other quilts. Welcome Rosalee! This is an awesome tutorial! Learning lots!

Ditto here!

Joni,

I completed two tops- I agree with whomever said that the scrappy look might not be best for this project.  I've finished quilting one of the tops and need to add the binding (WHY is it taking so long to finish??- honestly I don't know!)  The other top still needs to be quilted!
