A lot of issues can be eliminated by checking you are using one of the recommended browsers while using Quilt With Us.
If you are having trouble sending or replying to messages, uploading photos, or other issues, double check to make sure you are using one of the following recommended browsers:


SUPPORTED BROWSERS
Ning works best with these browsers:

  • Firefox 13 and 14
  • Google Chrome
  • Internet Explorer 8 and 9
  • Safari 5 and 6

Although you're welcome to use Quilt With Us with a browser that is not in this list, some of the features may not work correctly. Please note that not all the most recent versions of the browsers are recommended. As soon as they become compatible, we will update this posting.

How to Change Your Email Address

Step 1: Click "Settings" on the right column, underneath you name, inbox, alerts, etc.


Step 2: In your Profile tab, click "change" next to your email address.


Step 3: From there, you can change your email address.

You will be asked to verify your email address change. If you don't see an email from Quilt With Us in your inbox, check your spam folder. If you still don't receive a verification email, you can email us, and also check out this webpage.

How to double check your privacy settings:

Log in, and go to http://quiltwithus.connectingthreads.com/profiles/profile/privacySettingsand make sure you mark who you want to view your profile page, blog entries, events and comments.

How to add a photo with your comment to a blog post:

All you have to do is when you type in your comment, click on the small 'camera' icon on the top, like this.

If that doesn't work, try using a different, recommended browser for your Quilt With Us adventures.

How to add a photo slideshow in to your "My Page" or "Group.":

1.      You have to create an album of your photos. To do this, you go to "My Page". On the left hand side click on "My Albums."

2.      On the upper right side click on the "+Add" button.

3.      Here you have the option on where to get your photos. If you want to create a slideshow of just your photos, choose "My Photos." If you want to create a slideshow of tagged photos from other's photos, simply type in the tag (ex, 'paper piecing'), and hit filter. 

4.      Drag your photos from the left box, to the right box.

5.      When you are finished selecting the photos you wish, name your album, put a description and click "Save."

6.      You arrive to the newly created album. Click on the "<> Get Embed Code" and click once inside the "HTML Embed Code:"area, copy (Ctrl + C).

7.      Now, click on "My Page". You can put the new slideshow under either the "Text Box" or "My Photos"bar.

8.      Click on "Edit", and paste the code into the box. Click "Save", and now see your slideshow!

 

To save this slideshow on your Group* page, simply go to your group page and paste this code into the area underneath "Information", see step 8.)

How do I stop all of the emails from my groups?
Once you are logged in, click on the "Main" tab on the upper left area. Then click on "Settings" on the right side. On the left side, click on "Email." At the bottom of the page, there is an Activity area which includes blog posts, discussions, events, groups, group discussions, pages, photos and videos. From there you can change any of the email notifications you wish to receive. To stop receiving the mass amount of emails from group threads, uncheck "On items I comment on."

What is a theme and how do I change it?
A theme is simply the color scheme and styling of your profile page. When you join the network, a profile page on that network is created for you. You can edit your page's theme by logging in and clicking the "My Page" tab. Follow the link at the top of the left column of the page to change "Theme." You can choose a theme for your page, entirely separate from the network's theme, and customize the color of each item on the page.

What is a text box and what can I put in it?
A text box is a box to which you can add a variety of content. It's just another way to make your page your own! Simply click the "Edit" button in the top right corner of the text box on your "My Page" to get started. There is a text box for your profile information, your calendar, and you can comment on the walls of your friends on Quilt with Us. You can add the following to the text box on your page: Text HTML

Pictures

How do I change my profile photo?
Log in to the site and click the "My Page" tab. Click on the "My Photo" link under your location. You'll find a profile photo option on the following page, click on the image icon and hit the browse button to choose an new photo. When you upload a new photo, the old one will be deleted. New profile photos can take up to thirty minutes to show up, so don't worry if your new photo doesn't appear immediately.

How do I add photos?
You can add photos by clicking on the photos link located under the Meet & Share tab at the top of the page, there you'll find a green plus sign on the right. You can upload them from your computer, mobile phone, Flickr, or email account. You can choose who views your photo by choosing one of three options: anyone, just your friends, or just you. We like to show off our member's photos from time to time and by choosing the anyone option, your photo may end up on the Quilt with Us homepage slideshow.

How do I delete a photo?
To delete a photo, go to that photo's detail page. In the toolbar to the right of the photo, locate the red X with a link to "Delete Photo." Click on this link.

How do I see a specific person's photos?
You can view a member's photos page by clicking on their name next to a photo, or by selecting the "View Photos" link under their name on the photo's detail page.

How do I report an offensive photo?
When you're signed in, click "Report an Issue," which appears as a link at the bottom of every network page. This will alert the Network Creator to the offensive photo.

How do I change my profile photo?
Log in to the site and click the "My Settings" link on the right side of the page. Click the "Browse" button under the Profile Photo field to locate an image on your computer. When you upload a new photo, the old one will be deleted. New profile photos can take up to thirty minutes to show up, so don't worry if your new photo doesn't appear immediately.

How do I check my messages?
You can check messages by clicking on the envelope icon located on the thin brown strip that appears at the top of the page. You can also receive your messages by clicking the envelop inside the right hand box with your login name on it.

Do I have a blog? Where is it?
Every member of the Quilting Community has his or her own page on the site, including a blog. To get to your blog, click on the My Page tab. Find the "My Blog" box in the middle column of the page. You can add a blog post by clicking on the "Write your first entry!" link. Once you write the first entry in your blog, this link will disappear. A link prompting you to "Create a new blog post" will now appear at the bottom of your blog on your page.

What are groups?
Groups are a place where you can connect and talk with other quilting community members about a particular topic. You can join as many groups as you like or even start one of your own. Groups can be open for all quilting community members to see or "closed" and viewable only to the members the group administrator invites. You'll also find our Connecting Threads Quilt Alongs under the groups tab, where you can join quilters in a variety of projects.

How do I join a Quilt Along?
To join a Quilt Along you need to be a member of the Quilting Community website. To browse our Quilt Alongs, go to the Groups page under the Meet and Share tab.

Do discussions within a Group or Quilt Along appear in the Discussions Forum?
Nope! Group and Quilt Along discussions are contained entirely within that group, and don't appear alongside Discussion Forum. Forums Here is where you can post your comments, questions, feedback, and requests about Connecting Threads and our Quilting Community.

Why does it say I have 15 minutes to edit posts?
To maintain the integrity of discussions and replies, we only allow members to edit posts for 15 minutes. We think this is enough time to correct a typo, while ensuring that people don't "rewrite history." We do, however, let members delete their own posts at any time.

How do I submit a quilt show?
We've gathered quilt shows from around the country and are always looking for more! If you have an event to add, please email the quilt show coordinator. No matter where you're at, you're sure to find something in your area – simply search by state code in the upper right hand box.

EQ6/EQ7 Issues
If you are having trouble loading all of our .fab files, it's most likely a computer-to-program compatibility issue. For more information on EQ6/EQ7 please refer to their website for help. If you are having trouble loading some of our files, but not others, or if you are requesting older .fab fabric files, please contact us and we can help you.
