About Me
I met my husband while he was in the service, we are married for 41 years. I have a daughter, and a granddaughter who is almost two and our pride and joy. I work at home for a large corporation out of California, I don't know for how long. I love to sew and quilt, mostly to relieve stress. I stick with traditional quilt patterns and quilt by hand. I'd love to get a quilting machine someday so I can make more quilts. I also knit and crochet, particularly bag patterns which are then felted.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, hand quilting, general sewing, knitting, gardening
My Pets
2 cats, Abigail and Mischief, and a dog, Bianca

Can't help it

Ok, this made me laugh so hard I almost fell off my chair. Maybe it's gone around a hundred times, but just the same, enjoy!
To CT staff - if you think it's offensive, feel free to remove it.

One Sunday morning, a priest decided to do something a little different.

He said, 'Today, in church, I am going to say a single word and you are going to
help me preach. Whatever single word I say, I want you to sing whatever hymn that comes to your mind."

The pastor shouted out, 'CROSS.'
Immediately the… Continue

Thanksgiving

Let us give thanks...
for this wonderful country, land of diversity,
for the abundant resources, that we may preserve them and use them wisely,
for our families, for their love and caring and sharing
for our friends, far and wide, near and dear to us,

May all of us enjoy a day of Thanksgiving with our love ones and friends.

Fabric Stash

I spent a good portion of last night sorting and folding my upholstery fabric stash (see my photos), with the help of my faithful assistant, Abigail. I plan to make more bags and totes with these fabrics so I have to see what colors and kinds of fabrics there are so at least I could match the patterns. Some of the fabrics are big enough to make an 18"x14" tote, which is the one mostly requested by my co-workers. Most are 100% cotton so I could incorporate the designs on a quilt. There were a few… Continue

There is beauty in everything
1. Anger is a condition in which the tongue works faster than the mind.

Yea! It's done

It took me a couple of hours each day for the past week to get CT Emilie's floral wall-hanging kit done. This is a super-simple one, but when I have my 19-month old granddaughter here I have to hide everything out of her sight - fabric, pins, scissors, etc. so I couldn't do any quilt… Continue

I've been to New Hampshire 4 times, the last time in Sept to visit my daughter at her job at AVA Gallery in Lebanon. She took me to Keepsake Quilting where I bought too much fabric! haha

Thanks for commenting on "humor" discussion. Hope Abigail and your others are doing nice........I especially love black cats. But all cats are wonderful...we used to have a wild black mama cat come to our backyard all the time to deliver! At one time, there was up to thirteen black cats taking up residence in our back yard. It was like a pride of lions! They would not come near me but stayed just out of reach. One of them finally got smart and came up to me one day, I kept him and named him Emeril for his emerald green eyes. It was like he knew he wanted out of the "hard" life. But he hated the inside of the house...one day I found him in the street dead, hit by a car. He had stayed on the front porch and would let me give him attention.
It all started because I fed the mama cat. Believe me, she was wild! I could only watch her from the window, and if I tried to go out the door she would scat! It was not good because I knew they could never be rounded up and if they were they would all be put to sleep. They would eventually leave but that mama cat would keep coming back when she got pregnant! Even though I quit putting out food. A cat is a survivor! But I learned a lesson - never feed a ferrel cat!
Now, Cookie, my Siamese mix also began life as a wild kitty. I would discover her under our spa, a tiny little crying kitty all alone....I guess mama abandoned her or she scrambled off on her own from somewhere. This was way before our black cat experience. But, anyway, I rigged up a trap and caught her, brought her in, and against all her wishes, tamed her. Took awhile though. She is about eight years old.

Hi Aida,
Yes, I'm still seeing double posts and our trouble ticket is still under review. I don't know why it's taking so long, or why it only happens sometimes. Sorry! Hopefully soon.

Hi Aida,
Thank you for your kind post about the help you have had from chiropractors. The pain is from fibromyalgia and the muscles so sensitive a chiropractor would set me back for months, I'm afraid. There is really only one person I trust to work on my muscles, a PT from South Dakota. She is so careful and patient and works so gently. I hate the thought of having to find someone else now that I live in MN. But I have to bite the bullet and look I guess. I forgot to call the Dr's office and when I remembered I thought, oh well nothing will happen until Monday anyway. So I'll just call in on Monday for a referral. Fibromyalgia is a very strange disease/syndrome (i'm not sure what they call it now). It doesn't respond well to traditional pain meds or even tylenol, ibuprofen, or aspirin. Very little works. I hope the new drugs in the pipeline will be approved soon--and that they work well. What I am taking works but I can only take so much without having serious side effects. What a conundrum!

At any rate I've told you TMI I'm afraid. But I do appreciate your concern and your thoughts.....Dolly

Thank you for your words of comfort regarding Brandy. It helps to know others share your pain. Quilters are some of the most compasionate people. Cara

The Woodland Lei is a pattern from Pacific Rim Quilt Company. I bought it about 10 years ago but I think it is still available. It is a 42" inch wall quilt--the website is www.prqc.com
