About Me
I have just retired from my career due to medical conditions. I had planned on devoting my retirement to quilting, alas, a shoulder injury and arthritis on my hands has limited my pursuit of my hobby. So, I quilt a little, read a little, and take long walk as form of exercise.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, hand quilting, machine quilting, embroidery, general sewing, gardening
My pets are awesome!
2 cats, Abigail and Mischief, and a dog, Bianca

Hello June 2016

Whoever said that retirement gives you more time to do the things you love to do, never really paid attention to the fact that there is not enough time in a day to do the things that really need to be done.

Quilting on hold...too hot!

Posted on July 21, 2015 at 6:15pm 7 Comments

Quilting put into hiatus for now, too hot in my sewing room.  I do have an air conditioner in there and can turn it on, but...if I decide to cut fabrics, I have to turn on the bright light so I can see what I'm cutting, then I have to turn on the 1700-watt iron so I can press the pieces, then turn on the Janome Horizon to start sewing, along with my Nook to listen to music.  I then have everything running and voila! a short-circuit on the entire half of the…

On Memorial Day, we remember and give thanks to all our fallen members of the Armed forces, may their ultimate sacrifices never be forgotten.  And to our men and women who have answered the call to service, may you all be safe from harm, and Thank you for everything you do to bring peace to our world.

on the fourth Sunday of February, we got more SNOW...

A nor'easter sans snow

Posted on October 26, 2014 at 11:21am 5 Comments

This past week has been a sort of see-saw weather; it was cloudy and cold, and quite dismal.  On Wednesday the sky opened up and gave us a torrential rain, why here in New England and not in California!  Then I learned on the news that it was a Northeaster - which usually gives us 24-36 inches of snow when it comes during winter.  At least the rain didn't accumulate, although the brooks and streams are really flowing this time.  Gotta love New England weather, it's still kind of warm that…

Hi Aida, I live in Rutland, VT.  I'm going to White River Junction this morning with hubby for a doctor's appt. which is a little over an hour from here.  We should meet up sometime when the weather gets better.

Good morning,

Cold? It's so much better than last winter.....Today on the prairie it is sunny and bright and no wind. Wind is the biggest factor for the cold.

I am now into the sashing and borders of my Christmas quilt...have fallen in love with it as I gain confidence with FM.

Hey, it's winter, pop the quilt out and do some handwork for mini breaks...little steps will get it done. Good luck!

Today was a much warmer day. 11 degrees C translates to about 50 f. Breezy and some sunshine. Hope it stays for a few days. Glad the worst missed you. Have a great day

Aida, yes winters weather is here a bit early, the weatherman is saying it should get back to more seasonal temperatures next week hopefully he is right. Maybe the storm you are expecting will miss your area. I'm Sorry to say my knowledge of your part of the world is quite lacking. Are winters there very cold and snowy? Here's hopeing you get lots of quilting time in. Enjoy the rest of your day. Thanks for reading my post.

Nice to hear from you Aida.  I feel like we are neighbors. lol  As soon as I get my health straightened out I want to buy the Janome 2014.  I have a small 12 lb Janome that I bought to take to classes but I want one with more stitches for when my Husqvarna/Viking goes for servicing. I buy my Janome's at The Fabric Garden in Madison Me.  I had her holding one for me but ended up in the hospital so had to call and cancel it.  Will wait for her next sale.

Aida, thank you for your wonderful offer, but Bailey is growing out of size 6 now too. She is a big girl, only 4 years old.  I am really enjoying sewing for her.l I need to make her doll something with the leftover fabric - almost forgot about that. Thank you!
