Walk MS 2011

Posted on March 20, 2011 at 7:53am 5 Comments

Hi everybody!

As you may know, my daughter was diagnosed with MS last summer. She's currently doing well, but has to give herself daily injections to keep relapses at bay. Since her diagnosis, I have found out at least three of my cousins are also affected. That's the thing with MS - its not always visible, and when you see someone walking with canes, crutches or in a wheelchair, MS isn't always what comes to mind. More invisible are the cognitive problems, the "MS fog" as my quilter…

SO looking forward to a new year

Posted on December 31, 2010 at 5:40pm 3 Comments

Its been a rough year, a lot of tough times, but also a few joyous occasions. I'm glad to see 2010 behind me. I'm hoping for many good things this year....like helping my daughter PLAN HER WEDDING! Yeah! My baby is engaged!! (no, not making her a quilt LOL)

In the immediate future (and most recent past actually) I finally put the quilt top I finished last winter on my sister's longarm, and have, over the last two days, quilted everything but the borders.

I'm so glad summer is over

Been a while since my last blog post, and I figured its time for an update to all the wonderful women who consoled and encouraged me (thanks for that).

When I last posted, I had recently lost my cat. We adopted a pair of kittens and although they don't replace my Diesel, they distract me.

My Mom had broken a hip and she's all better now.

My friend Cindy, who's husband as been accused of her murder, well, the S.O.B.…

Aili. JW is a registered Texas Longhorn bull.  The pic really doesn't do justice to the tip to tip width of his horns.  It's a span of about 5 feet.  He's very docile and will eat out of your hand!

Oh my, what a story you have. I had not heard of that occurring. Thank you for sharing it.

Alli--I was so concerned about you when i read your comment just now.  Never apologize for venting on here--listening and nodding (b/c we've been there) is the primary reason many of us come to this site.  I can understand why you are so frustrated--don't know who your "slobs" are, but i do know that when you share living space with others, you need their cooperation just to make life work, much less make it pleasant.  You are not being too demanding (or nagging or whatever) when you stand up and state clearly that you are "mad as hell and not going to take it any more."  I hope you find a way to get the help you need from these folks and that it happens really soon.  i don't know if this will help or not: a few weeks ago, i reached the point of no return with someone I love very dearly, and I laid that in front of him.  It wasn't an ultimatum or a threat to get my way--I just couldn't go on any longer the way things were.  All the arguments I had used in the past were ineffective, but when he saw that I had reached that breaking point, it finally got through.  And he took the steps necessary to begin fixing the problem.  It hasn't been easy for either of us, but it is working.  I will be praying for you to find your own fix and get the help you need.  Bless you!

Aili, just read your comment on Joana's post and just wanted to stop by to let you know I feel for you.  It is so frustrating when you can't get some help from the ones you love.  You're right, nagging doesn't help and we end up not liking ourselves when we do it, but sometimes even with honey they are clueless.  I'm not sure what the answer is, but hopefully (soon) they'll wise up to understand you need them to help shoulder your burden at home.  I know it probably doesn't help much, but hang in there!  PQ
