About Me
I took up a part time position in a junior college, to pay for my quilting habit. My oldest is Joshua is now 27 and attending welding school. His daughter,Jade, is now four years old. My daughter, Jessica, has graduated from SIU and is now in Mckenzie, Tennessee, studying very hard to become the best Physician Assistant she can be. Dalton is my youngest at 20 and he is finishing up his second year at ISU. I took up quilting about 7 years ago. Quilting is almost like reading blue prints. That is what I did. I Bought some books over ebay, started reading, picked out a project and did it. I got my first quilt top done and the man thought I needed a quilting machine and 10 foot frame. So, I have one that I have no clue how to operate. Laugh if you want. It's okay. My mom and I laugh all the time. I enjoy cooking, cleaning, and quilting.

GOD'S GIRLS QUILT FOR FUNDRAISER "LYDIA"

This is the quilt I pieced to raise funds for the G2 group at our church. We learn to cook, sew, knit, crochet, and we learn about the women in the BIBLE and how to be Christian Ladies. I named this quilt, Lydia, because it is purple and Lydia was the seller of garments made of the color purple. Plus, September 11th, 2010 marked our first year of GOD'S GIRLS, which Lydia made her debuet and Lydia of the BIBLE was Paul's first conversion to Christiananity. We are offering tickets $1.00 each or 6 tickets for $5.00.

Unbelievably Contagious!

Posted on August 2, 2011 at 11:54pm 10 Comments

I had Airyn the first week making her quilt. The second week, Abigail. This week is Jeanine turn. Then my YDS's girlfriend, Shannon decides she would like to make a quilt. I entertain her idea by giving a chunk out of my stash. Then tonight, the son announces he wants to make a quilt. We packed up, went to town and Dalton picked out his fabric. Here we are 1:41 a.m. Measuring, Cutting, pinning, sewing...Piecing together one strip after another. Jeanine has 39 9-patches done. Shannon has 32…

Picked up Jeanine, tonight for her quilt with Auntie Angie! Well, My youngest son's girlfriend, Shannon, has decided she would like to begin sewing. This one is from the set up, plug in, load the bobbins, thread the machine....you have the idea. Pray for me this week. I had in reserve a set of 4 fabics to make a huge OHIO STAR for my headboard. I am stripping it for Shannon, to begin her quilt in the morning. Isn't it unheard of to give away your stash? I must be becoming a Big Softy in my old… Continue

Summer Piecing ( Two Quilts in Two Weeks with One More for The Road)

Posted on July 28, 2011 at 10:57pm 9 Comments

I have been bringing into my home, my great nieces and teaching them how to piece a quilt top. Pecking away at the work three to five hours at a time, Airyn,14, finished her quilt top in four days. She took away with her the fundamentals of piecing. She even learned how to cut with a rotary cutter. I am confident that Airyn, could make a top alone, however, she would call with small questions. Abbie,13, finished her quilt top tonight. Abbie is younger and feels that pinning and ironing is a… Continue
