Back from Missing

It has been a long time since I posted here. Life got away from me. I'll have to try and check in more often. Since the last time I was here I have started selling Accuquilt products and have been having a great time doing that. I am also in the process of trying to start a website so I can sell some crafts and material. Hopefully  I will get it figured out soon.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a Wonderful New Year.

Piecing just for the fun of it

Posted on December 5, 2009 at 10:07pm 2 Comments

Now that we are moved and settled in for the winter I have been able to start piecing a quilt for me just because I want to. I put a picture of one of the blocks on my blog. You can see it at:

http://anitas-bedofroses.blogspot.com . We had a dusting of snow this morning and a chance for flurries every day this week. It's soup and stew weather for sure. I've also managed to find time to make new curtains for the bedroom, kitchen and living room. The cats have settled down and are happy to… Continue

Hi,

I just wanted to say hello and drop a couple of links that you might find useful.

Spoonflower is such a great resource when you're looking for a completely unique fabric and I'm very excited to be debuting my own designs this month. I will be adding to these designs on a weekly basis, so please check back often.

The FREE BOLD E-zine is a very helpful resource for those who write or read blogs.

I enjoyed viewing your work. Fabric is such a wonderful medium in which to express our love of shape, color, and imagination. Best of success with your projects.

Lynda

I hate it when my computer gets an attitude! After my boys left I took it in and had it reformated. They had downloaded so much junk on it, it no longer worked right. I think we had picked up several viruses. After the reformating it was back to normal, the only downside was reinstalling software. However, it was nice to pick and choose which programs I really use. I am thinking of increasing my sewing room, actually it was my husbands idea. We have a 5 bedroom split, I currently use one of the bedrooms downstairs. He was talking about knocking down a wall and combining 2 bedrooms to make me one large quilting room. Sounds like a lot of work, but I am sooo crammed in my current space. Anyway, happy stitching, Cara

We have Brandy's ashes back and it sounds wierd, but it feels better to have her home.
I haven't made curtains for ages, the last ones I made I used the auto-ruffler and made cafe type ones for my kitchen, about 15-18 yrs ago. I've made valances for a couple of room since, but prefer to quilt. Enjoy your visit, is she a sewer? If so what a great excuse to go shopping for fabric! Cara

Thank you for your words of comfort regarding Brandy. It helps to know others share your pain. Quilters are some of the most compasionate people. Cara

I have been having a problem with my lenni it seems to have decided to guid its self. Didnt do it when I first got it , dont knoe what caused it to act like it gets in a rut and it takes off to the side or is hard to go around in a circle . I went over to the APQS forum and found that others were having the same problem Dawn Cavenaugh had some suggestions posted Tried one of them seems to help but it still feels like IM having to learn to drive it all over again . Like when you get a new car and you have to get use to it. I put a new quilt on and thats when I found I was having a problem so the quilt looks bad and to make things worse I used a verigated thread that does not work. It was suggested that I pick it out ,Im not that brave so I have invited others to quilt on it with me, just practice and have fun with it. I have really learned a lesson on the color of thread chosen .Think I will stay with ivory or linen , colors like that for a while at least until I have learned more about thread choices. I am going to a quilt expo and show in Salt Lake City on the 7th of may. And enrolled in three classes on longarm quilting .Really looking forward to going it will be my first real training.I dont drive in heavy traffic so John my DH is taking me . It feels good to be able to tell someone about my quilting adventure Thanks and I look forward to chatting with you again.

Thanks for getting back to me .I will be waiting anxiously for the pattern. I am attracted to tree blocks and pinwheels. I also enjoy sewing the churndash block .It is so versatile ,pieced in so many different ways. I just got my longarm a APQS Lenni, so I am still in the learning process , although I believe there is no end to learning, people are coming up with new ideas. I mainly quilt for my children and grandchildren. There has been a few people ask me to make one for them. I have two commissioned that I am now working on . They need to be finished in Nov.of this year.Im looking forwards to posting them . I do not own a business at the present time but thinking hard about it.I have been looking for someone to collaborate ideas with. I was impressed with you DH sewing with you .My DH helps me with the math Im always wanting to tweak pattern or design my own. I did post a few of my quilts . My sweet daughter in-law helped me with the com. stuff Im new at being on line, chatting but enjoying it more all the time. I would enjoy chatting with you again.

Your quilts are beautiful. I especially love the Log Cabin. Such beautiful colors and arrangement. Do you quilt your own?

Anita, I don't know what I would do without my fur babies. If it weren't for my husband who stops me, I would be one of them cat ladies with a dozen or more cats. Although, I couldn't imagine having that many cats helping me quilt. All 3 of mine like to be right by me when I quilt.
