About Me
I have been quilting about 9 years. My favorite fabrics are anything old-fashioned looking, but my interests are expanding. My favorite color is red. My grandmother quilted all her adult life and I have some of her quilts displayed in my home. I have a great husband...married 27 years, have a son and daughter-in-law...they have a darling one year old Mason, so that makes us grandparents!!!! YAY! We also have a daughter who received her physical therapy assistant certificate. God has blessed me abundantly. Quilting provides me a creative outlet, and I love giving them to people. We have 2 doggies Wilson & Mollie.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, hand quilting, machine quilting
My pets are awesome!
Wilson, who keeps me company since my children are pretty much on their own, and another dog named Koby who is so big he has to stay mostly outside

Question to anyone

Posted on March 15, 2010 at 8:54pm 8 Comments

My cousin asked me to throw this question into CT cyberspace. I couldn't answer it for her......so here goes.........do many of you pay attention to which way the grain is going for your projects? For backing? For borders? For cutting out pieces that you just want to use to fill it here and there? I know some patterns have said to NOT cut the border pieces selvage to selvage, but the OTHER way. However, the OTHER way forces you to buy tons more fabric. OK...that's enough question....any info is… Continue

Sewing machines

Posted on November 1, 2009 at 11:15am 8 Comments

Hi all....I am in the market for a new sewing machine. So far I've come across 2 that I like, and since I really don't know which is better, can anyone out there in QWU land help? I was thinking of a Singer Confidence Quilter 7469Q or a Brother Computerized Sewing Machine. The Brother machine is on sale until today for $189 minus $30 coupon. Don't know the model number. I need someone to tell me which machine is better. The Singer is $399 not on sale, $299 on sale at Joann's. I cannot afford a… Continue

I can hardly wait to go to a quilt show and wear my new tag!!! I think the next really big show in So Cal is the Ontario Quilt Show in January! They have already emailed info about classes, but not yet about tickets. Hope all you CT quilters are getting excited about the holidays. I figure I'll be busy until Easter next year!!!!! and then some. Happy stitching everyone!

Summer is almost over.

This summer has been amazing...our vacation, having our daughter home from college, our son and his wife celebrating their first anniversary, and just being so blessed through my husband and our whole family! I finished 3 quilts...well, 2 and almost done with the 3rd one...and I have posted them. My stash is still too big and I am going to work on making quilts with what I have on those shelves. I love reading everybody's comments about what they are making and what they are doing...love… Continue

Hi Anita...Carol Vickers saw on Facebook that Linda Robertson fell and broke her elbow in 3 places. Since I'm not on Facebook, I thought I'd see if you knew anything and would post it on QWU for all to see. She's amazing person and haven't seen anything from Linda or you for quite some time.

I'm still quilting for Project Linus, making Microwave potholders, placemats, potholders or hot pads and coasters for gifts, which are always appreciated.

Our weather in the NW is about the best place to live. We aren't affected yet witih a water shortage, but may this summer. We, like other western states, didn't get hardly any snow, so the snowpack is not what it should be.

I'll be keeping Linda in my prayers and if you know anything, please let us know.

Thank you.

Sharon

I guess my ? wasn't clear, did you do it as a QAYG or did you sandwich it and quilt as would normally?

Hey Anita, Congratulations on the upcoming grandson.  You are going to love being a g'ma.  I know I do.

I posted a photo on the F & F group that I wanted to share with you and see what you did with yours--did you do it as QAYG or did you use the sandwich method.  I am afraid that I might get it off the centers and mess it up.  Thanks for any help you can give me on it.

Anita, thanks for the friend request.  I'm delighted to accept.  We've both been on here for so long, I thought we'd already done that! :)  Hope it is spring where you are.  We're still alternating between spring-like weather and snow. :(  We do need the moisture, so can't complain.  One day this week we have a terrific snowstorm in the morning, by noon it had cleared up, the sun was out and the snow melted by mid-afteroon.  Seventy degrees by then.  Then a storm cloud rolled up and dumped some rain & tiny hail in the evening.  What????  Mom chuckled and said the only Nebraska weather we didn't have was wind and tornadoes.  I'm SO ready for summer.   Have a great weekend!

Hi Anita, I just started my blog here. For months, I've just been looking at the quilt photos, commenting on them, and adding them to my favorites, including yours. I just now noticed I have friend requests. How fun! Love your quilts, I think we have similar tastes. I hope to get more of mine posted soon. Lindsey :)
