Thank you, Anne! I am going to look for one of those the next time I get to a quilt store... the one I really enjoy going to isn't exactly close!

It's also nice to meet another quilter who teaches! I've got one more week to myself and then it's back to the classroom... *smile*

LOVE LOVE LOVE you 'Avatar'. I've wanted to get to Maine and the other New England states for the coast, the lighthouses, the fall leaves, etc. I'm a lighthouse lover as well. Ahhhhhhhhhh. I lived in the "other Portland" (Oregon) for 15 years and our kids are still there. Thank you for teaching - it's such an important profession!

Thank you Anne. I guess I'm going to have to get more involved in this forum. I joined and then forgot about it until I started getting all these birthday wishes!

Hi Anne: Thanks for the news about Maine schools. Sometimes when I'm up to my neck in education "nonsense" I think I'm the only one. Actually, I have 7 wonderful 3rd grade teacher colleagues with whom I can collaborate. I am very fortunate because we all get along (knock on wood). Our state superintendent has talked about a freeze on textbook adoptions for the next few years. This year we are supposed to get new math textbooks, but they haven't arrived yet. Oh well, they still have until Sept. 8th. It would be nice to have a little planning time with the teacher's edition. Good thing teachers are so flexible! Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate your comments. Happy traveling and quilting.

Hi Anne: Just saw your profile. I teach 3rd grade in Los Angeles. Enjoying my summer quilting before school starts again. Who knows what we can expect in Sept. California's crazy budget, or lack of it, has created havoc in the public schools. Lots of pink slips. For many years our "students to teacher" ratio was 20:1 for kinder - 3rd gr. We are told to plan on 24:1. We are a Title 1 school with about 95% Hispanic ethnicity. I do not speak Spanish so it's always a challenge at parent conference time. I miss my students during the summer, but definitely enjoy the hum of my sewing machine. Take care and happy quilting.

Take your time Anne, there's plenty of it. I was just talking to someone else and thought I would try to drum up some interest in doing other swaps within the group.

Oh, thanks!! Funny, today (June 30) is my mom's birthday!! She is 80 and she is doing well. Aren't you glad school is out! This site can be a bit overwhelming at times - some days I get as many as 75 email messages - of course, I belong to 10 groups and everytime someone makes a comment, I get notified! I will be at Maine Quilts on Friday and Sunday all day. I am signed up to white glove at some point and our chapter of Maine Machine Quilters will have a quilt in raffle alley and I will man that too at some point. I will be wearing a name tag as well. As soon as I know my schedule, I'll be in touch. That way, we could pick a time and place to meet. Are you taking any classes?

Hi Anne, I just saw your post on East Coast Quilters. I see that you are in Portland...I come to Wells each year for a week's vacation and so enjoy the area. Can you recommend any area quilt shops other than Knights?

How about a Quilt With Us/ Connecting Threads Button?

Hello all you nice employees out there who work at Conecting Threads!

I have an idea I'd like to propose!!

Do you think it would be possible to have some type of a button or name badge designed that says
something like Quilt With Me Member, Connecting Threads ?

A lot of us end up at quilt shows and gatherings and we'd love the chance to meet each other in person.
If we had such a button or name badge we could identify each other. I have been to two quilt shows lately and know some of m… Continue

Blogging or Quilting.... hmmm????

Help!!! With all these great posts it just might cut into my quilting time?
Now I'm great at multitasking, butI don't think reading post and quilting can be done at the same time!
Which shall I do? Anyone else facing this"problem"?
