genius and insanity

I have hear there is a fine line between genius and insanity. I'm wondering which side of the line I'm on right at the moment. I thought it would be a great idea to make a green satin doll dress with celtic applique to celebrate my heritage and pass it along to my daughter. I decided to make the bias strips with a 1/8' finished width and design a pattern for the dress. All of this is within my abilities. However, I've never used 1/8' bias strips before. And I think making bias strips is tedious.… Continue

Bean Days

Yesterday and today was our town's annual Bean Days. A time when local business make beans, have sidewalk sales, sample beans, local chuuches have fish frys, beans, sausage sandwiches, ice cream floats, beans. When some bouncy rides and face painting and beans for kids. Also a parade. And beans. It makes for $$$$ at work, but kinda of sore for the body.

My family has engaged in the primary activity of sampling beans. I kid you not, i think they've had a quart of free sample beans each. Guess wh… Continue

First Annie, thanks for the recipe for the maple oatmeal cookies. They were delicious and the quilting girls loved them. The doll outfits are gorgeous. The little cowgirl is sweet and the celtic dress is really cute. I saw the hallowe'en outfit too and it is beautiful. You did a wonderful job.

Hi Annie, I think you meant to say that the balls were 3 inches in size. Are they done like EPP are did you sew them by machine? They are really cute.
The picture 26 on my page is a family of ceramic deer that I painted a few years back. I taught classes for a few years and really had a great time. I don't do the ceramics any more due to the "arthritis" in my hands. I loved doing animals and attempting to get them as realistic as possible.
Well, I hope you are having a great day.I am going to the grocery store this weekend and get some maple flavoring to make my cookies. The bottle I had was too old to mess up my cookies with.

Thanks for sharing and have a good day..............

Hi Annie, I really like your tiger quilt panel. It looks very striking.
I see you live in Montpelier. I used to know someone from there many, many years ago. Not sure exactly where it is though. Do the dolls belong to your daughter??

Hang in there, sounds as if things are improving already.
My DH had a heartattack at age 49 and a stroke 5 years later. Both were minor as compared to other heartattacks/strokes. After the stroke, his cardiologist did some testing and it was discovered that he had what gets called "a hole in the heart". Once this was discovered, it was promtly treated. Of course, certain lifestyle things had to change. No more lengthy trips to Mexico because there, we're out in a tiny fishing village. Even a 30 minute drive to LaPaz wouldn't help because they don't have the proper technology that would be needed.
A little over a year ago (shortly after his stroke) DH returned to an old love - playing the piano! (no need to travel for that)
Hope things are continuing to improve. For my DH it seemed like slow going, but things did eventually return to normal (or as close as can be expected).

Annie, thanks for replying. I believe as you do that everyone truly has to worship God in the way they choose and to call God whatever they feel comfortble calling God. I am probably more Hindu than Christian or Pagan, but I put all that I learn from every religion or belief system that I see and attend, into my own faifth/belief and I have a very broad spectrum of beliefs now and feel so much better that way. I have some very good pagan friends, two which came up to my area from about 3 hours away and we had lunch a couple of weeks ago. It was so nice to see them and pick up where we left off when I lived close to them a city away. I truly enjoyed learning more about the pagan way and even then realized that every one I met in that type of tradition believed differently, as I have found in every other religion or faith - there is as many beliefs (or religions, if you will) as there are people, and I find that truly liberating. Wow.
As you probably notice, I changed my name due to my name appearing on Google 17 times, with several from this site. Was just trying to avoid stalkers from when I lived out in California - they traced me back here and started causing trouble, even after I threatened them that I would get a restraining order from the police there. So, I used another name which I like using some times. The name my pagan friends knew me as was "Spirit Talker" which was given to me by a grandaughter of an Apache Medicine Woman. I also had the name Morgan.
Happy quilting to you, Annie. I sure appreicate communicating with you. Blessed be and many happy days of quilting to you, Annie. Samuel

Annie, thanks for inviting me to be your friend. I am glad to be your friend. I took a quick look again at your DWR quilt top. I love the bold colors and patterns in it. I also love making bright colored quilts as you can see when you look at my page. I have made a lot more recently that I don't have in my page until I get them developed. I will post them then. Samuel

Annie, was good to see the way you sign off on your post - Blessed Be. Would you be a pagan? I have a lot of pagan friends and studied it for awhile. Those friends are really right on and great friends. Love your DWR. Thanks for sharing it with us. Happy quilting to you, my friend. Mr. G.
