About Me
I have been quilting for 20 years and sewing many more. I teach quilting as well as demo long arm quilting machine for my nephew at shows when needed. I do long arm quilting as a business as well as donate the quilting for Quilts of Valor for my guild in Geneseo IL. Quilting in my passion; I especially like doing photo/memory quilts for others so their memories become a tangible feature in their home. I love to teach different techniques to others and see them have the light bulb click on when they get the idea - and see the passion grab them as well.

SHOW WAS HUGE SUCCESS!!!!

Life is returning to normal, well as normal as it gets around here. The show last weekend went amazingly well! We had wonderful weather and a great turnout though I am not sure of the final numbers yet. I know we did sell over 3000 tickets on our raffle quilt, something that the guild has never done before. We had 250 quilts on display, again something we have never done before - I think two years ago we had just over 150. There were 13 youth entries from 10 individuals - all of the entrants got… Continue

SETUP DAY!!!

The planning is over; now it is time to see if all the quilts will fit in our space - now that is a GOOD PROBLEM to have. We set up the Geneseo Quilt Show starting at 4 this afternoon - sure hope it quits raining. A beautiful dry month and today it decides to RAIN, RAIN, RAIN. Anyone in the area come by and check out the show Saturday 9-4 and Sunday 10-3 at the Geneseo IL Middle School, 303 E Ogden Avenue; admission $5. I know we will have a lot of beautiful quilts for you to see as well as some… Continue

Will Sanity Hold????

The last of the wedding and bridesmaid dresses went out the door this afternoon - Praise the Lord both were just right!! I have the labels printed for the youth category for the quilt show so our Chair can sign them tomorrow, but still have to do the labels for the winners. Really would like to size them down a little so am still working on that. Started typing and printing the info cards that will hang with the quilts tonight - this may take longer than I had hoped! Got one section done but hav… Continue

QUILT SHOW NEARS - HECTICNESS INCREASES

This has been a busy weekend and the next two weeks should be pretty crazy. Yesterday ED had more produce from the garden so canned 5 pints of dill pickles and 15 pints of tomatoes. Today 13 y/o grandson came over after lunch and put together the quilt top he started before school started. He has the top together and ready for the borders to be attached; ran out of time to do them tonight so maybe I will help him out and to them. He would like to be able to do the quilting the next time he comes… Continue

Gorgeous end of summer weekend

DH and I just finished chopping the ingredients for a mess of salsa. ED put out tomatoes and peppers and of course there was a large batch ready for picking Thursday night before they left for the weekend. Since she and DH love salsa it seemed like a good project to put them to use. All the ingredients are currently 'marinating' to see if the seasoning is right before I put them in jars for processing.

I am hoping to get a chance to work on a wedding gift for next weekend; actually it has to be… Continue

I wish I could remember the name of the orchards where they worked, I know it. I just remember a picture of a smiling apple wearing an Indian headband and it said Napa sue (sp?). I do remember it was a pretty big operation. I doubt there were a ton of orchards in a town called Wauconda.
Yes, I love Tammy Tadd's bright colors. I work with a lot of different colors and styles, often depends on the time of year and my mood, or the recipient of my quilts, but I admit, I have a soft spot for those brights, or pastel brights!

When I was growing up, my uncle and grandfather worked on an orchard in Wauconda. My uncle actually worked there up until about 5 years ago (he's in his early 80's), then moved back to WI to be near the rest of his family. I used to love going there, it was beautiful and the orchards, to me, where magical. Allergies kept me away from there for many years.
I saw Tammy Tadd's booth at the IQF in Chicago in April, and I just fell in love with her stuff. She is in Quilt Sampler Magazine this issue! I hope someday to stop at the shop in person.

A dear friend of mine lives in Wauconda. Actually, some of my relation lived in that area for many years, and my sister lived in Chicago for a few years.
Are you anywhere near Tammy Tadd Designs? I love her stuff!

Hi, Arlene.

Glad to have you with us in the business group! Don't think I'll get out the the Geneseo show, but I am going to the Quilt Expo next weekend in Madison. I hope it will be great!

Thank you Arlene and yes the quilt is from a pattern called "Stairway to Heaven" in a paper piecing biblical book #2 of patterns. I don't off the top of my head remember the name of the book but a pic of it is on my page in my photos. There were many blocks to pick from to put in the quilt and these were the 12 I chose. Bless you, Linda

Thanks for the info on the show! I might make it out there, I'm not 100% sure yet. I'm supposed to be vending at a show in Rantoul that weekend but I'm having a problem getting a sitter for my 2 children while I'm away. They are back in school now and it's harder for me to just take off on a Friday to set up for a show. Anyhow, if I end up not vending myself that weekend, I'll come out to your show to have fun and shop and see the quilts!
