Thanks Giving Again

Just returned from a mini vacation in Colorado and I'm thankful the DH and I are OK and all in one piece. Left early to come home, going slow through the canyon, but hit a patch of snow on top of ice which hadn't been plowed. Luckily we missed the rock wall but in trying to avoid it I ended up about 20 feet into a field on the other side. A lot of bouncing, but airbags didn't even deploy. Rigth rear tire pulled off the rim. It could have been much, much worse. Changed the tire in 20 degree temps… Continue

Thanks Giving

Friend of mine says that between now and Thanksgiving we should wirte one thing a day we're thankful for.
So... I am thankful for the family I came from. They helped me be a better person. We never doubted that we were loved and they gave us an excellent education even though it meant many sacrifices on their part. They also gave us a foundation of faith. Growing up I didn't think they were anything special but as I moved around the country and traveled the world I came to realize how truly luck… Continue

Mornin all

Good morning everyone. It's Monday. I used to work with a gentleman who used to come to work every Monday and say"Monday, another day to strive and achieve" and he said it with a smile. And meant it. I learned a lot from him. I'm still not as positive as he is but I'm a lot better than I used to be.
I'm still working on the paper dolls quilt for my GD in Portland. I'm doing stippling around each doll and it's very time consuming. I figure if I do one a night (I work during the day) I'll have it… Continue

November Next

Just had some trick or treaters. We haven't had any in recent years, but ever the optimist I bought some candy anyway and now I'm glad I did (even though I know I'll eat the leftovers and I definitely don't need it). It was cute to see the little kids dressed up. We live on acre lots with mostly teens and grow… Continue

Good Mornn

Mornin everyone. I just finished the handapplique on my quilt. It's a tree of life quilt. Now I get to do the sewing, bordes, quilting, and the embroidery and bead touches. I'm ready. I love every quilt I start but as time goes on I'm ready to finish it and get going on another. I already have the next two in my mind and on those days I'm bored with the appliques I cut out the other two. I'll be going on vacation soon and will do the hand embroidery and the trim on the road. Perfect timing.

Hop… Continue

Laurel Burch Panel Wall Quilt

I finished this quilt for my neice and will give it to her for a Christmas decoration. She loves cats and the modern colors and patterns. Laural made such beautiful fabrics. They're a treat to the eyes.

Happy July

July in the desert is hot, and humid in the afternoons when the thunderstorms roll in. But no one I know compains about the thunderstorms. They're majestic. The big thunderheads start building in the early afternoon and after a few hours the sky is gray and rather scarey. But we love them. When the weather report is either hot and clear or warm and clear a little change is a great thing. The thunderboomers are loud and dangerous, so we get out of the pool. There's nothing I enjoy more than being… Continue

Prestamped baby quilt

I bought a prestamped baby quilt which I am to embroider. I have no problem with that, but am I supposed to make sure none of my stitches appear on the back. Since it's already quilted and has the binding so it is finished except for my embroidery. I've never done one of these before but one of my daughters-in-law liked it for her new baby. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Roseann

Roseann,
I just browsed through your quilts, they are all beautiful. You do nice work! I can't decide which one I like best.

Roseann, from one creaky person to another. When I get up in the morning I have to use a cane to move from the bed to the bathroom. Joints don't want to work and the one leg does not want to bear weight. But then I am fine for the rest of the day.
Appreciate your blessing a day, or what you are thankful for. It is a good idea, something we all need to think more about.
Take your Vit D and calcium too.

I was really excited to see that you live in Tucson! I come through there on my way from coast to coast. Maybe one day I will have time to stop and we can meet up.

Just talked to my friend in Alaska and we are planning a summer trip to visit her. Yeah! I would love to see some of your needle turn applique.

Yes, and we love the ferry! It is the only way to go according to my husband. We want to do it again before we get much older so we can also go fishing.

We were married in the 70's so this dress was nothing my girls would wear. LOL. I'm wondering why I even wore it. But I saved it and used the lace trim and cut a portion of the lace fabric to make a christening bonnet for my grand daughter.

Roseann
thanks for the comment about the ring bearer's pillow. I loved working on it and using up that old wedding dress of mine that was in the cedar chest. I've used the lace from it on other projects for both of our daughters' weddings.

Well, it depends on which part of the SW you will be in. I'm in the Tucson area and if you're coming this way I'd be happy to tell you about some good things to do (and quilt shops to visit LOL). Let me know.
BTW I'm an army wife although I didn't get him til he was already retired!

I'll be in a cast for 2 more weeks, but at least get the stitches out on Tuesday. Then a month in a splint with PT and another month just PT. I tried to sew with the splint on this summer, but just had my little Janome. I think I can get to work with the big one. We will be in your area sometime next winter or early spring. What's the one thing we shouldn't miss? It's been 40 years since we've been that way and I know things have changed!

Next time I go too? Just kidding. Glad you had good weather. I was supposed to go to KTN this summer but got to busy. Maybe next year.
