Been a while

Posted on August 15, 2013 at 3:22pm 11 Comments

I just realized that it's been too long since I've posted. My new puppy Hershel is now 18 months old and weighs 78 pounds. Ha!

I took 2 Judy Niemeyer classes this year and have yet to finish the quilt tops. I'm working on a Crabapple Quilts "Trim the Tree" as a present for my daughter. I'm still not done quilting my "Fanciful Flowers" quilt and my new grandson's memory quilt is still not finished and he is geting ready to turn 3.

And I thought retirement was going to be stress…

Dr Seuss at light speed

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 12:39pm 8 Comments

My one and only grandson (I have 6 granddaughters) had wanted an Elmo quilt but now he wants Dr. Seuss. He will be one in about 3 weeks so I was working on Elmo for his BD party. Now I will do a Dr Seuss quilt. Just bought the fabric online. I hope it is delivered quickly so I can get going on this.  You may ask how a one year old let me know which quilt he wanted.  He giggles when I hand him pictures.  What more can I say!

"today you are you, that is truer than…

Fall - it's almost here

Posted on August 24, 2011 at 3:14pm 0 Comments

Just returned from 3 weeks in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. Had a great time and really felt inspired to sew and paint. I signed up for an art quilt class in Monterrey in the spring of 2012.  I'm looking forward to that.  I feel that fall in right around the corner in the SW so I'm getting ready for some pumpkin theme decorating of my house and yard.  I'd love to see pictures of how you decorate for fall . So if you can post some it would be appreciated. Have a great Labor day.

I got my groove back.

Sounds kind of silly, but I just couldn't seem to get with all my projects this winter. I made snail's pace progress and really had to push myself. But for the last few weeks it's been great. I finished my Tree of Life quilt which I started over a year ago. I had it 90% done but then lost interest in it. Finished it today, hung it up and feel great about it. I also finished 7 out of the 9 blocks for my new grandson's quilt. He is due in about 2 weeks.

It's funny how sometimes we just…

Crazy time

Posted on August 28, 2010 at 7:03am 10 Comments

Just realized it's been almost a year since I posted. It's been so crazy this year. With the economy what it is we've been working so much harder just to stay in place. And the competition is so fierce because eveyone's in the same boat. So I'm using that as my excuse as to why the time has flown. Looking back much has happened but nothing bad, just busy and for that i'm thankful. My 6th granddaughter was born this year. Yes, 6 grandchildren, all girls. They are all beautiful and will be…

Thanks Giving Again

Posted on November 17, 2009 at 6:47am 11 Comments

Just returned from a mini vacation in Colorado and I'm thankful the DH and I are OK and all in one piece. Left early to come home, going slow through the canyon, but hit a patch of snow on top of ice which hadn't been plowed. Luckily we missed the rock wall but in trying to avoid it I ended up about 20 feet into a field on the other side. A lot of bouncing, but airbags didn't even deploy. Rigth rear tire pulled off the rim. It could have been much, much worse. Changed the tire in 20 degree… Continue

Friend of mine says that between now and Thanksgiving we should wirte one thing a day we're thankful for.

So... I am thankful for the family I came from. They helped me be a better person. We never doubted that we were loved and they gave us an excellent education even though it meant many sacrifices on their part. They also gave us a foundation of faith. Growing up I didn't think they were anything special but as I moved around the country and traveled the world I came to realize how… Continue

Mornin all

Posted on November 9, 2009 at 7:30am 4 Comments

Good morning everyone. It's Monday. I used to work with a gentleman who used to come to work every Monday and say"Monday, another day to strive and achieve" and he said it with a smile. And meant it. I learned a lot from him. I'm still not as positive as he is but I'm a lot better than I used to be.

I'm still working on the paper dolls quilt for my GD in Portland. I'm doing stippling around each doll and it's very time consuming. I figure if I do one a night (I work during the day) I'll… Continue

November Next

Just had some trick or treaters. We haven't had any in recent years, but ever the optimist I bought some candy anyway and now I'm glad I did (even though I know I'll eat the leftovers and I definitely don't need it). It was cute to see the little kids dressed up. We live on acre lots with mostly teens and grown kids so not many trick or treaters. Now on to plans for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays becuase we get to have the… Continue

Roseann thank you for asking me to be your friend.

It is really funny I have been racking my brain wondering who Roseann was as I have you on our Fall Swap with a difference and couldn't put a face to your name.LOL I don't always get notice who have join our groups and sometimes if I'm away when I come back and have miss a few pages(as you know LOAQ is a chatty group) I see all these new ones. Hope you are enjoying our group. I have found it  really has taken my thinking outside the box!!! And has really stretched me!

I have nearly got my Fall swap finished maybe another hour on it then a bit of handsewing.

Is your embroidery hand or by machine?( Seen your photo's) I have not long got an embroidery machine and I have found it a bit challenging getting patterns downloaded from my computer to the machine but I think I have now got it licked. Now to use the machine when I got all the swaps finished. Glad you joined in with this new swap if and when you have yours done you can email it to BJ. photo of your creation, label(poem etc) and photo of the piece of 5" sq. your partner sent. We won't be posting every ones until the smilebox is finished and everyone has recd. their swap. The due date Sept.1st to be sent out to partner. Good luck and enjoy.

Thank you for the friend request, Roseann. I enjoyed looking at your quilts, too. The New York Beauty is amazing. I liked your fall and Halloween applique quilts as well.

Welcome Roseann to the Love of Art Quilts Group, we are happy to have you join us.

Your quilts are beautiful, I especially like the Halloween hangings, although I do not per sa like Halloween, I do make a number of wallhangings, and I have decided that the reason I do is that I just love the colors.

Where is Colorado do you enjoy going, do you have family there?  My DH has 3 DDs and a DS that live there, so I am just curious.  I live in Nebraska so we visit as often.as we can.

Roseann, from one creaky person to another. When I get up in the morning I have to use a cane to move from the bed to the bathroom. Joints don't want to work and the one leg does not want to bear weight. But then I am fine for the rest of the day.
Appreciate your blessing a day, or what you are thankful for. It is a good idea, something we all need to think more about.
Take your Vit D and calcium too.
