I hope I explained the Adirondack bit well enough! It was quite a "fad" during the late 1800s to go to the mountains. The even had what they refered to as "sanitoriums" for those who suffered from tuberculosis. There's another mountain range in New York State called the Catskills. It was better known for it's Jewish resorts and camps and closer to New York City than the Adirondacks were. New York is also covered with lakes created after the Ice Age. When the glaciers receded a great many lakes were left behind. Some even worthy of Winter Olympics! LOL
