About Me
I'm a mother of 3 adult daughters and enjoy quilting and crafts. I have been quilting for about 10 years. I do hand quilting - have not yet had success with machine quilting.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, hand quilting, general sewing, gardening
My pets are awesome!
3 cats
I'm looking for other women who like to quilt who live in Jeannette,PA or surrounding areas. I work full time so I can't join a quilt group as they usually meet in the mornings. I would really like to meet people who can teach me more quilting techniques and also, how to be a better quilter. I'm ready to start sewing some pillowcases for Christmas gifts in christmas prints. any pointers out there on making those?

Hi Becky! I don't come here to QWU much either but think of you often as well. I keep in touch with Irene on Facebook and we chat fairly regularly. I haven't done any sewing since last Oct for a birthday swap. She wanted a blue and white table runner so this is what I made for her:

Today is Nameer's first day of 2nd grade so I want to get back to my pieced hexi project. I am only on the first rosette with several more to go but I am enjoying it. I am doing it all by machine since I don't have the time or experience to do it by hand. It's using a book called The New Hexagon and the project is Millefiore Quilt Along on Facebook with Katje Marek. Here is what I have on my first rosette...just have the last round to complete

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding(s)! That's exciting! I am happy that you are enjoying the journey through that process.

Thanks for getting back to me and letting me know all is well in your neck of the woods! xoxox

Hi Becky! It's been ages since we last talked. I wanted to let you know that we have moved to the St. Louis area. We have most of our necessities settles but still so much to unpack and an unfinished basement to think about finishing so looks like my life will still be super busy even if I am officially "retired". Nameer asked what retired means....I told him that it means I was tired yesterday and I am tired again today lol I told him I was just joking and that it means I don't have to have a job away from home so I can take good care of the house and them too. The days sure seem to fly by. We love our new home and the surrounding area. I'm a bit sad about being farther away from Clare in Nebr but I am sure we will work through that. Thanks God for Facebook and Skype!

I hope you and your family are all doing well. Last I heard your parents-in-laws were struggling. Life can sure be a big challenge sometimes. I guess it helps us enjoy and appreciate the good times that much more.

I hope to hear from you soon. Take good care dear friend xoxox

I'm going to make the same promise to my self in Jan. I do have to have three quilts done for my three youngest grand kids.  I attempted to get them done for Christmas but now I'm shooting for next year at the latest. lol I have one top done and will try to get them done to send out to the long arm quilter.  I'm going to send them money and just give them the quilts when I get them done.  It's beautiful here today. The snow is melting and the crew here in the complex is busy cleaning up the parking lot and spreading salt on the walks. Next years challenge is on for next years project.  Wish me luck. lol

Awww so sorry to hear of your parent-in-laws struggling. That's never an easy thing to go through. I lost both of my parents in their mid 60s less than a year apart. Mom had Alzheimer's and didn't recognize me the last time I saw her. Dad died of lung cancer. He had many health challenges including kidney disease/failure/transplant. They were both smokers so I am sure that was the root cause of it all. I am trying to take care of myself but to be honest, some days I don't do a very good job of it. I tend to get stressed and lazy as a result of it. Nameer has been giving us a lot of problems at school so that is not helping. He is fine at home, so I don't know why he is misbehaving at school when he knows what the rules, expectations, etc are and knows perfectly well what is right and wrong. We'll just keep doing our job of guiding him and pray for the best. He sure is a challenge!  We are done harvesting our corn at the farm so now just waiting for the soybeans to mature. Safeer has several corn plots scattered around Kansas but that's up to the farmer to call us to come and harvest that with them. He is really busy with field tours and taking notes then other meetings too. I'll be ready for Winter to come so we can relax a bit and recharge our batteries lol

wow, you must have heard my brainwaves thinking about you just yesterday! I too haven't been on here much with all the hectic things tugging on my life right now. We are all doing well, just keeping super busy. We had another flood at the farm so that caused us a lot of problems and clean up. We lost most of our soybeans but had time to replant them....just not sure when we will get to harvest those....maybe Christmas lol I am working on a table runner for the swap group which I need to get finished up. I have most of the quilting done then the binding. Thanks for thinking of me! xoxox Glad to hear you are all doing well over there!

Yes, the baby had to be resuscitated when she was born but was gaining weight and all of a sudden they found her dead.  They said she cried a lot but they just thought she was colicky.  I feel desperate over my sister and take meals over to her and eat with her.  She just stays up long enough to eat and goes back to bed.  I never know when I leave if I will see her alive again.  But it hurts to see her suffering too.

I'm going to take some pictures of the whole apartment but waiting to get my kitchen curtains made and up to the window.  Got company coming in the Fall so will have them made and up before they arrive.

I had my first cataract removed on Wed. and go back this Wed. for the other eye.  Can't wait to get all this and those gazillion drops I have to put in my eyes behind me.

Your trip sounds like a fun time.  Have a great time.

Sheep Shape quilt pattern question

Posted on January 17, 2019 at 11:37am 10 Comments

I have this pattern called Sheep Shape baby quilt. When I go to print off the templates,it has a "legend" at the bottom of page - it's a straight line that is to measure 2 inches. When I print off the template, the line is only 1 3/4". I am printing at 100% like it says to do - my question is, will my pattern still work? One lady at a quilt shop said "no"it won't. but I can't find anyone or anywhere to answer my question. Can someone please help e? My daughter wants this quilt for her baby.…
