About Me
I have been sewing almost all of my life. I made my first quilt when I was sixteen and a few more through the years. Quilts as an "obsession" began after my son started college. My husband is supportive of my habit and my son thinks I might turn into a quilt! I enjoy road trips with my quilting friends and I am a member of a local quilt guild.

Project Linus Workdays

Friday and Saturday I attended a work session for Project Linus. This was a new group of ladies I had not met before. In no time they made me feel welcome and I had a great time working with them. The PL coordinator had tons of fabric for us to work with. She was so excited to see each quilt as they were turned in. I learned a lot from everyone and they were very interested in some of the projects I had done. She had me show them how to do one of the simple quilts that I have done for PL before.… Continue

Quilting Junk Mail

I just returned from my mailbox and sorted through the junk mail. One was from a magazine service, looked like a bill for renewal of a quilting magazine subscription and the price was $39.95 for six issues. I don't subscribe to this magazine, don't want to and even if I did I could get it for less at any magazine stand! It makes me mad for companies to do this sneaky kind of advertising! OK, now I've vented and I fell better. I just hope everyone will look carefully at any offers they receive an… Continue

UFO Frenzie

I have too many projects going at once. Surely no one else has this problem, ...yeah right! I have been busy sewing together the Split 9 patch blocks that my friends and I swapped. I finally got the borders on it this week. I broke down and gave in to a new project last week to give myself a break. It was a baby quilt in my favorite colors, just too tempting! Got the top done, don't know when I'll get it quilted. It gave me some instant gratification and renewed energy to continue working on the… Continue

I didn't think I'd like teaching either. I'm very shy and hard of hearing. But it went so much better than I expected. I guess when you know what you're doing, it helps a lot. I feel pretty comfortable with the aspects of quilt finishing. I should've known I'd be okay, I used to be president of the Music Boosters at our kids' old high school and I had to get up in front of the school and talk one time. My DH said he knew how hard it was for me to do that and he was pleasantly surprised at how well I did and how comfortable I came across (I was shaking in my boots!). It's not something I'd want to do all the time, but it was a good experience.

Hi Betty,
I know what you mean, about not having much to say lately. When it gets really 'quiet' around here, I find I don't have a lot to talk about all the time!
I'm working on potholders for the gifts. I noticed three of my girls only own two Christmas potholders that I made them a couple of years ago! I am toying with the idea of making some Christmas pillows as well. I love making pillows, and these don't necessarily have a Christmas theme so much as I use the colors and maybe one or two Christmas prints in them. For me, well, I finished and dontated a quilt that I made ten years ago (okay, so it's not for me now), made myself a fall themed purse a while ago, am working on a couple of potholders for me and I may put together another quilt that I had the top sitting around for many years (I have several of those, am trying to finish them up and either use them, sell them, or give them away). Our local quilt shop closed at the end of last month, so I suppose the temptation to buy stuff I don't really need will be less! ;-) Oh, I also taught a class on quilt finishing, the first time I ever did that. I enjoyed it, would do it again.

Yes, Eleanor acts like she has always known you - even in the chaos of AQS! I can't imagine what she would look like NOT smiling. I have all but one of her books and she has signed 4 of them. I'm in the middle of one of her quilts for our bed. We are moving to a new house in a new town and I had to tell her she was part of this new chapter in our life. She asked about where we were moving, what the house was like and did I have a quilting room. She just acted like she had all the time in the world. :0)

Question, Do you have a disappearing nine patch posted with sashing? Although I guess with sashing it is not really disappearing? I like the idea of the same pieces, rearranged. Endless variety of quilt squares without using a bank-breaking budget. Kudos..
