Thanks for commenting on my post about Material Obsession (the book.) The cool thing about the book is that the 25+ projects are a wide range. They actually get more difficult toward the end of the book. And they rate the projects which is super nice. Of course, Avalon is the first project and is the easiest of all of them. In fact, I finished the top this weekend and have already gotten the fabric for the backing. I plan to make it a pieced backing with some of the leftover scraps from the front but I want to add some white and some hot pink that will go with the fabrics on the top. I also got the quilting thread and the batting (bamboo). I hope it turns out well, I am sort of nervous to quilt with screaming pink variagated thread over the white sashing, but I think it will go with the funkiness of the quilt. Well, I suppose I could go on and on, but I'll stop there. THanks again for commenting!
Small world - when Texas is so large. I lived in Quail Forest for many years until 2003, then to Calgary for 4 years, back to Texas and bought a place out in Waller for a year, now in Lafayette since August. Two oldest boys (21 and 19 now) went to the Hamilton(s). Don't usually see many Cypress folks so had to look you up on your website and mapquest your address - the street sounded familiar. Used to play tennis at Kluge every once in awhile - was on several teams out of the QF neighborhood. Still have some very good friends over there. I learned to quilt while in Canada and of course they would put in a quilt shop (Time Treasured Quilts) right across from the old stomping grounds. I visit it frequently when I come home for visits. I taught my niece to quilt over the past year and I think she has a quilt there now getting quilted. Nice to "meet" you.
