It is spring today`

Not actually spring but feels like it. We went to DH's doctor and he got a semi -answer that he wanted. He told him he could putt and chip (golf) but not use the driver yet. He is thankful for anything that would get him out of his chair. Hig leg is not quite healed but almost there.
The flower beds need work. My weeping cherry tree is blooming! I got it last year after it had bloomed and I am so glad to see it this year. It is white. The blooms come out and then they fall and the leaves come ou… Continue

Snow is still here

My husband's father always said "if the snow lays around it will snow again." But no snow predicted by the weatherman. My hubby has two doctor appointments today. He broke his leg nine months ago and is 80% healed but it has been a long ordeal. With me not being able to see well enough to drive it hampered us a bit. I have been listening to my recorded books since about 5:00. I am an early riser and an early to bedder (is that a word) too. My Beau dog doesn't like to get his feet wet so this sho… Continue

Snow

For the people who are in northern states that doesn't sound like much, but..............We don't have much snow in TN and we are suposed to get 2-3 inches tonight. Then it is supposed to by 68 next week. Oh my! I have been working on the Sweet Pea Sonata block that is in the recent issue of Quilmaker magazine. I am doing it in 30's material, which I simply love. I will do a table topper probably. I hate to do that because I love bed quilts but it will be easier to quilt on a domestic machine. I… Continue

I found a site www.dhquilts@blogspot.com and there is a wonderful tutorial fro doing binding on quilts with fusible thread. I use YLI fusible thread. Hope it is okay to mention a products name. Go to the right side of the homepage and it will say tutorials. I sent a comment this morning but I have no idea where it went. I don't think I am doing this very well. Hope this helps. Bettty in TN

Okay, I'm loosing it today`

Anne sent me a message to see if I had got my free embroidery block. She said go to files and I could get it. For the life of me I cannot find files. That bad memory I talked about yesterday is still her. I have been putting binding on a lap quilt. I am using the technique with fusible thread. The last time I used it everything went great. Today nothing has gone right. The thread keeps raveling on me and then with bad eyes it is hard to thread the needle even with an automatic threader. Because,… Continue

Hi Ms. Betty,

Thanks so much for the compliment on my Southern Star blocks. I'm so sorry to hear you are not feeling up to par. I've just said a little prayer for you. I'm hoping the good Lord, some sunshine and birds singing will have you feeling better in no time.
Have a Blessed Day!

A friend of mine lives in the tornado area. I was over there yesterday and it was a mess. The place where the mom/baby was killed is gone. A memorial stands there now. You wouldn't believe the flowers there...

Hi Betty, quite a while ago you asked me what the pattern was for one of my quilts. I didn't forget your question or ignore it, but for the life of me I couldn't find it...until this morning when I was playing in the Quilt Dash. The name of the pattern is "Arkansas Snowflake" and if you want to get templates for it go to www.quilttemplates.com and click on books and templates and then on favorite blocks. I agree with you, I love this pattern and it is easily adapted to any fabric or color combination. Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
have a wonderful day, Susan

We're fine. The tornado hit across town in two different places. We're in south Murfreesboro. Thanks for thinking of us...

Betty It's nice to meet someone from so close. I just love your quilt especially the green and pick one with the fussy cut centers. Can you tell me what pattern this was. I go to Arlington on occasions. Usually when my husband takes me. I haven't been since the new owner took over. I must get over there, they say it's nice. I went to a shop in Bartlett yesterday. Pretty nice shop.I have taken lessons there and have really enjoyed them. Our guild is really busy getting ready for the retreat. Having a lot of fun and can't wait until it gets here.

Betty, So sorry to hear about your eye condition but I wanted to tell you I think you do fabulous work. If I could do that with my good eye sight I would be a really happy camper. I think the " Sweet Pea Sonata" is gorgeous. I too love the 1930"s prints. I did not know that that was what they were until I started looking up cloth on internet. Unless I am wrong,I thought they were all just like the fabric Mom made me dresses from when I was a kid.LOL Anyway, I just wanted to tell you to keep up the good work..........

Hi Betty, thanks for commenting on my quilts. I didn't do any applique on the Baltimore Album quilt. It was all a panel that I cut out the squares and the border and sewed them back together again! I still need to bind the darn thing!
I don't like applique anyway, so there would be no way I'd take on something like that.

Thank you. My brother will have a very positive attitude I am sure which will help recovery. However, he also had polio as a child and as a result of that has severe back/spinal problems. Never complains an ounce, especially to his five bossy sisters.

Thanks for your kind words. And yes I will "baby" my baby. I think I hate watching her age more than aging myself. I remember her running around the house and jumping up to "kiss" my nose. now she walks very carefully and usually hugs the walls. She fell down the stairs a couple of time and that really slowed her down. However, I don't mind being her seeing eye person. Happy stitching

Hi Betty, it's nice to meet you. Thanks for checking out my Mariner's Compass. The QuiltSmart is a pre-printed foundation of interfacing. Don't know of any connection with Eleanor Burns... I was able to piece 1/4 of the compass in the class I took then finished it in a couple of sessions at home. Simple way to get a fabulous result. I'd like to do one of their other designs some day...after I'm done with my Romance Quilt which is totally out of scraps.
