Woke up early this am to sound the rain rain hitting the terrace. I am looking forward to a day under my quilt hand quilting away. I have never hand quilted a king size quilt, my plan is to mark how many blocks I get quilted each day on a calender. So far, I have eighteen blocks done in my first week. The whole quilt has 121 blocks, If I keep up this pace I could have done this quilt done in early January. So I am shooting for the beginning of February, sounds reasonable. It is amazing how…

I came across this paper pieced pattern at The house that Kaffe built. I really love red and white quilts and wanted to do this miniature to add to my mini wall in my sewing…

Carla, congratulations on winning a prize for your beautiful Hand PIeced QAL quilt.
Hello Carla, the rose on your page is lovely, do you know the name of the variety, perhaps I can get it here in UK
Letting you know I just voted for your quilt on the Quilt Blogger's challenge. You showed detailed photos of the quilting that others did not and yours included feather stitching while the others only had stitch in the ditch that I could see, plus your intricate and innovative piecing, so you win hands down IMHO!
No, I'm not a quilt judge, maybe I should be? LOL.
Carla, tell me more about your pickle dish please. Its the one quilt that defeated me but I'm almost ready to attempt it again.
Donna I love your quilts and the garden setting for the photography!
Carla, Your quilts are beautiful and so is your photography. You have a keen sense of color. You scrap quilt is awesome.
Carla, try putting 4 petals into one applique layer. Put a pin through the centre each layer as describec in the book. It helps keep all those petals centred properly. If they're still too small for you, make them slightly larger. No one will know but you.
Hello Carla,
Thank you for your reply and the blog to look at. Oh your work just blew me away, you are so very tallented, what patience and eyesight you must have. I love the teaching video, I am going to look at that more closely when I have a little more time than I have today. It is book work or should I say organising work for a charity that I am rather heavily involved in. It is their 50th anniversary this year and so there are many events for fundraising and publicity to organize and coordinate, its never very easy when trying to appease lots of different people, well I try. Look forward to seeing and learning from your very explicit instructions. Thank you. I am in North Yorkshire UK where are you in the world.?
I must apologise, I had not read the message I have just posited, noted it said handwriting, it should be hand quilting, there is prescriptive text turned on , on my computer, I don't know how to turn it off, it is an annoying, sorry for that
Hello Carla, I enjoy handwriting, but don't do so much of it at the moment. I have just finished some blocks and joined them to make a band across the end of the two single beds, I joined them together using the quilt as you go method for the first time, was very pleased with them, it is a wonderfully neat finish. I love to machine embroider too, but am not so good at it, continue the learningprocess.
