Its a perfect day for quilting provided we don't lose power. Its cold and icy out so I will stay in and quilt

New to the Group

Posted on December 30, 2008 at 8:15am 0 Comments

I am new to the site. I am 47 years young and have been quilting since 2001. I love traditional patterns and paper piecing as well as Machine embroidery.

My coworkers all laugh because you can tell what stressful year it has been by the number of quilts I have made.

I am looking forward to sharing ideas on the site.

Carmen, I hit the button to send the message before I finished, LOL. Can you give me some tips on photo quilts. Obviously you've got a knack. And the addition of Yankees material into the quilt for my son would be the cherry on top!

Hi Carmen, I loved your quilts. They are wonderful. I am very interested in making photo quilts. My son turned 40 last year and my daughter is 40 this year. I would love to commemorate the occasion with such a loving gift.

Hi Carmen! Thank you for your comments on my pictures, the kitty quilt was done raw edge on the machine with a satin stitch. It took a lot of time to go around all the curves! But the satin stitch makes it launder well. According to my friend, she has a hard time getting her cat to get off of it long enough for her to enjoy it, he thinks it's his.

Is that your little grandson in the picture with you? He's a doll baby! Aren't they the most wonderful gift in the world?

Photo quilts would make great gifts. I've been meaning to make one for my parents for years, but never get around to starting it. I intended to make one for their 50th wedding anniversary, but that was last year so I guess I missed that window!
