I must have been working on this particular quilt for nearly 20 years!  It was a Block of the Month before those became so popular, and I was assured that as a newbie quilter, it was well within my skills!  WRONG!  I did finally get it together, layered and basted, planning to quilt it on my domestic machine.  Well, that was a horrible idea!  I had no such skills!

Think the next several years spending time folded up in a drawer, while your maker slowly improves her domestic machine…

Guild "Retreat" Trivia

Posted on March 3, 2016 at 8:53pm 11 Comments

Our guild has planned it's annual retreat for mid-June.  Unfortunately, the powers that be have decided that, in order to make it affordable for all, we are not actually "retreating", but attending a daily sew-in at the local Veterans Hall for three consecutive days, lunch & dinner provided.  A friend and I volunteered to do registration, payment collection, name tags and "goodie bags."  We are supposed to plan for about 70 attendees -- not exactly my idea of a retreat, because we return…

Considering that Easter often falls in March, I made up an Easter Itty Bitty:

My March Itty Bitty

I have been working from Mari's book, so my version of her March Itty Bitty is in flat cotton, not wool.  I have added a small embellishment:…

I understand, sort of. I'd rather meet everyone in NYC, but if that's not going to happen and I gotta travel it doesn't matter to me how far, so I'd be willing to visit ranchmom again. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I've never been to a quilt retreat so I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into. It just occurred to me you'd probably be able to get to NYC faster than to ranchmom. It took us all day to drive from her house to Mari's.

Following is a comment I posted on FB. I was fishing to see if anyone might be interested in a quilt retreat or something. Several definites and several it depends so far. Just want you to know you're included. I don't want to discuss it on Gifty because MSQC and CT are competitors and it doesn't seem right. You could email me at marclarke@aol.com if you want to talk about it.
Okay, I'm going to raise an issue we've mentioned over the years. And that is getting together for a quilt retreat. Or just getting together for the sake of getting together. Anyone interested? I'm thinking sometime next year--spring or summer? Someplace easy for most of us to get to, or someplace someone can't get away from? At one time several people mentioned Hamilton, MO. Since FB and CT aren't connected we could talk about it here with no disloyalty to QWU.
So, if anyone is interested please leave a comment and we can talk further. There must be a way to set up a secondary news feed.
