I've been sewing for over fifty years and started working with a group in August, 2010 to make quilts to donate to the Quilts of Valor and Quilts for Kids organizations. When I'm not quilting or sewing, I am making doll house miniatures in one inch scale.

Thanks for your kind comment on Starry Splendor, Carolyn. Can't take credit for the colors, though. It was a kit from Connecting Threads from a few years back. I bought it, put it away, and found it earlier this year and decided to make it. I really like the border and will have to make another quilt with this pattern..........someday!
How lovely that you enjoy minatures too. I have a large georgeon house that i need to install electrics in before decor can begin. I think i love all things small, does that mean i am still in child mode i wonder....hope to hear from you agin
Hi Carolyn!..it is always so good to hear from you!!..you are very special to me!!, my friend!
We are packing and getting read to move to another house..tomorrow is moving day. I have such mixed feelings about the whole thing!..we were happy where we were, but the owner is selling this house.. I think I am just tired of moving!!..and all the mess of packing!
......We live with our daughter and grandaughter, who are both big pack rats!! They don't throw anything away...well, here we are!..I am grateful for my own room, so I can shut the door!..I am hoping that this new house will fit all of their stuff..
.....I am excited to get my sewing room in order and proceed with the Bonnie Hunter's quilt..Happy Scrappy Houses!..it is wonky!..and makes me smile!..I need some joy right now!..and Order! (Ha,ha,)..living out of boxes is not for me!
....hope you will have a wonderful day!!..keep me posted of your new creations!..Kathy
Thanks for the nice comment on my quilt, Carolyn. I'm from OH but the nice ladies in the Iowa Quilters group asked me to join them. One of the members organized a BOM last year. The colors were not something I would normally use but I like it!!
Carolyn, I haven't heard from you in ages..and I am sure it is my own fault! How have you been? What have you been up too? I think of you often and see you working hard on your Quilts of Valor...
That wading pool was really meant for me..Last summer..it is Soooo Hot, living in this desert!..I had foot surgery and the family though I would enjoy sitting in the pool with my feet outside ( couldn't get them wet)..Well, as soon as the 5dogs saw the pool, they claim it for themselves!
I have been busy doing nothing!!..I fell down our stairs and broke afew things,,left wrist and arm, and 4places on my pelvic bone...so it is more bed rest for me..but, you know me..the bed is the last place I want to be!!..so it is 2 days of 24/7 bed rest then I get to walk for about an hour..that is all I can handle..I do get to sit at my machine for about an hour..then back to laying flat!..it will just take time to heal!
Ok!..enough of Chatty Kathy!..please tell me about you!!...Hugs, Kathy
I would love to receive some more information about that. I do have a quilt that I made called "Allegiance" because I was inspired by our men and women in service and it is red, white, and blue. Do they all have to be that color or will you accept other quilts as well because I have two more I would love to give?
Thanks for your kind words on my quilts. My applique is mostly machine satin stitched - that is so much faster. But I have been venturing into hand applique more.
As to your patchwork diagonal block - that looks like the perfect block to use 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 pre-cuts and charm squares, which we have a lot of. I think I will teach a class on this to a prayer quilt ministry group. Thanks for the inspiration.
