I bet I'm not the only one to do this. I was strip piecing a log cabin star quilt block (the first one) with blues and a tonal cream color. Everything went together perfectly, that is until I turned it over and got a really good look at the front of the block. Yep, I did it. The third strip added was wrong side out. I knew things were going too well. Thank goodness I had just enough extra strips to piece another block. The wrong one will hang on the wall to remind me to be more careful the next… Continue

HELP Please

Posted on February 4, 2009 at 12:46pm 1 Comment

I'm suffering from something that all will have someday. I call it "Sometimers" not OLD TIMERS. I've been saving to the clipboard pictures of the quilts that I like best. They are all so good but I know that some I will never be able to do. Now, the problem. I can't find the clipboard. Somewhere in cyberspace I lost the darn thing. Anyone know where to find it? I sure would hate to lose all the pictures that I've saved so far. Thanks for any help. Casey

Never again will I complain about not having much of a winter here in Eastern KY. We got hit pretty hard this week. Not alot of snow yet but lots of ice. Supposed to snow again today. I don't count 1inch to two alot. I am getting some organizing done in my sewing room so that I can sew some. I got a log cabin star quilt cut out yesterday, so maybe can start putting it together today, if the electric holds out. Stay warm everyone. Sounds like this current storm is a dooooozy. casey

Good Morning to All

The sun is shining, the sky is the prettiest shade of blue but it's 6 degrees. Two out of three ain't bad. It could be alot worse. Today is a good day to snuggle down with my 4 new quilting mags and read. I really need some hand quilting thread but hate to go outside. I finally got warm. HGTV this morning has all the newest in landscaping shows on and really makes me long for spring. (don't know what I'm thinking, winter just got started). Hmmm, Maybe a landscape quilt, or one with spring… Continue

Praire Points

Morning all. Can anyone help with instructions on how to add the backing to a quilt with praire points? My new granddaughter would probably like to have her blankie before she turns 50. The instructions that I have read just aren't real clear. Thanks for any help. Casey

Hi Casey, I'm lucky I haven't had a moose on the road. They live up near Yellowstone and one of my friends who lives closer to the river had one come into her yard. I love seeing them, they're so funny, but BIG and not something you want to run into in the dark.

Where are you in Kentucky? I used to live in East Tennessee and worked in Knoxville.

I loved your comments about picking a kids name outta a hat & that's who you'll live with in your old age! LOL

My brother lives 7 hours away & has always been afraid that when my folks "kick off" he won't be able to get here in time to pick out what he wants. Told him to not worry, that I place my name under the pieces of furniture that I wanted. While he didn't believe me, I caught my mother checking underneath some of the antiques! hahaha

Hey, Casey! Thanks for the info on the canine diabetes! It sounds just like the feline symptoms that led to the vet visit. By the way, until I was 14 I lived in KY just across the river from W. VA. I lived in Pike County, in the "little point" of the county shape. Now, here I am back in the hills!! Wouldn't have it any other way!!! Quilting is a passion for me. Only been at it 12 years and will never be perfect, but, enjoy it anyway! The U.K. Extension Homemakers in my county are the ladies that got me hooked! Have a good night!

Hi Casey - Where are you in Kentcky? I'm in Cox's Creek near Bardstown. I work full time in Louisville. Finding time to quilt is the tough part. I have to have energy and relaxed brain to get creative and enjoy it. After a long day at work sometimes it's just doesn't happen so that leaves a few hours on a weekend here and there for my therapy (quilting, of course).
