I've been quilting about 8 years now. I like to try things that are going to stretch me a little, either with a technique or a color scheme. And I like the Block of the Month idea. Not too much to do at one time.

Thanks for joining The Material Girls. Hope you enjoy the chat. It is a real treat to read all the stuff the other talented ladies are accomplishing. I am working on squaring up some log cabin blocks today. Then I have some 1 1/2 inch squares I have to draw a diagonal line on and 128 2 1/2 inch squares I need to do the same to. I got a great hint from a quilting buddy. She uses an emery board as the straight edge when drawing the pencil line. Less stretch on the fabric when you do the job. It works great and makes the line just fine. Then I'll be sewing those 128 blocks to the corners of the log cabins. They create the look of spools of thread once the blocks are jointed. I am doing this project through the local quilt shop...The Cotton Club. Love that shop and the owner. She helps me lug my machine up and down her steps to the class room because I walk with two canes and can hardly chew gum and walk at the same time....she makes it possible for me to do the stuff I enjoy. WIthout my friends I'd be in a pickle that is for sure. Mary Jane
