About Me
I LOVE quilting!!! I'm trying to make a living at it, but it isn't going so well, but I still seem to keep busy. I've done several graduation quilts with pictures, I've made a few T-shirt & picture quilts and I've made T-shirt quilts. I've put a few of pictures of my T-shirt quilts on this site. If anyone would like one, you can contact me through my email. I check it 3-4 times a day.

I have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. My husband and I finally have an empty nest (for the past couple years, yeah!) My grandchildren are keeping me very busy!

My profile picture is a picture of my DH (Bill) and myself at Madrid's Local Park...

Afraid I am extremely slow and remiss in replying to you. I am starting year 2 with DH and his cancer. Does not seem to be that much time each day for more than snatches of this, that or another.

I am a 39 year transplant from IL and I miss it. 2 grown children and 1 grandson. Also 3 house cats and 2 wanna be's. Sewing is a catch as I can and for the last few years it has been hand quilting some old quilt tops my daughter bought at a sale on a farm near Cheaha Mountain.

I ordered 3 yards of the floral stripe fabric today. At least I will have that and then I can "fudge" the rest of it and make it unique to me! ;0) I got your mail today too.....thank you soooo much! xoxox

Hi! I'm new to QWU. I like your page...how did you get the lace border around it? It's cool!

Thanks again! As you can see, I really love round, pointy things - especially Mariner's Compass. The border fabric is a Michael Miller asian influence print with Fairy Frost for the spokes. When it was finished I thought it sure looked like something a Gypsy would have, hence the name. I did what I thought was my invention, but others have done the same thing - I used "raw edge" applique for the flowers. I backed the fabric with fusable and cut the flowers out leaving a very small bit of the black background on, then ironed them to the corners and free-motion stitched all around with black thread. There is a very small amount of beading - my first attempt at embellishment!

Chris, Thanks for the compliment about my quilt. I made it for my DH back when he had an office to hang it in. The private University where he was a professor laid him off along with a few other PhDs last year. He's still looking for a job. I love Paper Foundation Piecing the most of any quilting method as it lets me make what most think are really complicated quilts in just a few hours. It's all in the prep work before sitting down at the machine. Thay quilt took just over 1 week from start to finished top. I designed the pieced border so that added to the prep time, but I think it was worth it. Thanks again.

Hey Chris no problem. I put out an alert and Lori came to my rescue. She found this site for me( I really had searched but under Devvie's name) and it is a pic of the finished quilt by someone named Christie. Check it out and lets get finished. It took me a long time to decide how to do it:what colors and then which fabrics; and now I am very anxious to get it done. I will post a pic when I get it finished. I will schat with you later and hope to see a pic of your top soon.

Thank You Mam! I will be waiting to hear back from you. If you don't find them, I guess I will go with by guess by golly. Thank You!

Hey Chris, do I need to send you a photo to get the other part to the mystery quilt instructions? I have everything cut and am sewing it together at this time, but wish I knew about the borders. I would take a pic if I need to, if I can borrow a camera. Mine died and I hoped I would get a new one for Mother's day but didn't. CUL

I went on my retreat March 26 thru March 28th... Had a really great time and met a lot of wonderful ladies! I didn't take any pictures (forgot my camera...duh!!) But I did get a lot done! I finished 2 pillow cases, 2 baby quilts, a couch throw and got all of the rows put together for a full size quilt. I think I'm going to do another one next month... (if the money is there..) It is a UFO retreat.. boy can I fill that bill.. I have 2 new commission quilts to make and about 14 UFOs in my closet!! The only draw back to my weekend was that my cabin was very, very cold... sunday morning it was warmer outside than it was in my cabin!! I talked with the manger of the center about it and he said he would give me $50 off my next retreat there... Thought that was fair!

My T-shirt Quilt Process

Posted on August 27, 2009 at 7:00am 3 Comments

Okay... like I've said many times, I'm no expert, but I've had several ask me my process and so here is how I do it.

1. Rough cut all the T-shirt designs leaving as much area around the design as possible.

2. Square up each T-shirt again leaving as much area around the design as possible, but making sure that the design is approx. center. They won't be square, some will be wider than other, some will be longer than others, etc, etc.

3. Use Fusible Interfacing to… Continue
