Originally from Long Island, NY, living in western KY for 20 yrs. Hubby & I both retired in '05. We have seven g'kids & 3 great g'kids. I care for my youngest g'daughter 2 days a wk (she's 2 1/2).
My grandmother, my mother and her 2 sisters were all proficient needleworkers. They each taught me their love of needlework which I have enjoyed since I was 6 yrs old. My hubby is the greatest. He enjoys traveling with me, finding new quilt stores, needlework stores, etc. He "fiddles around" with leather work. He's pretty good at it too! Almost all our friends are like minded and we teach each other new crafts too. We love to yard sale & go antiquing.
Hobbies and Interests

My Pets

I retired from Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital; worked there for a total of 27 years. Iuta is a dear friend/extended family member - she is my DSIL's aunt, and I'm sure there is some connection somewhere between our Hutsons and her Hutsons. She is such a joy to be around!! I've lived in the county for most all my life. Our DD lives in Crossland; her husband is part owner in the saw-mill there. Two sons - one in N'ville area and one in Memphis area. My quilting isn't in Iuta's league; I recently finished hand quilting a Lone Star that my MIL pieced for my oldest grandson. When I gave it to him, he said something about now it's "stuffed." lol My DH says he didn't retire, he just quit work. He was in sales most of his working life; he and his brother bought an antique car parts business in the 80s and ran that for a number of years, but the inventory has been sold and both are enjoying being retired. Look forward to keeping up with you. BTW, I really miss the Pincushion, too. I'm about to use up the big spool of quilting thread I got from her when she was on the south side of town. Sure wish I knew what brand it is - all identifying marks are gone.
I live at Hazel and go to church with Patti - BBD owner. Haven't had a chance to go to her shop yet; just getting over surgery, but I plan on going soon. Are you a member of the guild at Murray?
Hi Christine,
I forgot to mention that there is also a quilt shop in Camden. It is run by a former LI, New Yorker. It is right on 641 about a mile south of Walmart on the right. It is called the Quilting Bee. The store in Paris is run by the same woman who ran the one that went out of business. She has a partner now. And yes, I do miss the ocean sometimes. Mostly on a nice summer evening. I found Backyard fabrics through word of mouth. One of the ladies that I quilt with belongs to the Murray Guild. I love to meet you if you get down this way. I am not working, so I am usually free.
Hi Christine,
It is a small world. We actually moved to TN via Maine. After 5 years there, we have definately had enough snow for a lifetime. We settled on TN because we still have 4 seasons, but winter is much shorter.
Christine,
I was just reading your profile. I grew up across Long Island sound in Southern RI. We moved to TN three years ago. My hubby is retired and does wood carving.
Hi Christine,
I love Backyard fabrics, we go there alot! Her prices are great and she has a nice selection. I don't know the best way to get from Murray to Huntindon. Probably go to Paris than to Huningdon(can't remember the route #). The shop is on Route 70 across from Mallard's Resturant. She is closed Sunday and Monday. There is also a new quilt shop in downtown Paris called Your Place. She is also closed Sunday and Monday. I haven't had a chance to go there yet, she just opened last month. I'd lov to meet you if you get down this way. My email is quiltingtn@hotmail.com
Remember when I said I would wait until the end of the year. In my last email. Well, I was out working in the yard, getting leaves up and cutting the wild onions that have shown themself, and I thought about it ~ then thought about it. After about 5 more thinks about it, I thought it is just not a good fit. So, I add two more in it's place. But, they just reading the different comments it looks like it will be more fun and light hearted. Talk soon.
Today the weather is getting cooler. I am thinking that after Thanksgiving I might put up my knitting and take out the quilting frame. Are you having TD at your house? This is the first time in 35 years I'm not cooking. It's funny going to the store and not buying all the stuff. I always try to have something new with all the old favorite meal. This year I have to watch my Fat intake. So, tons of first. Carl has a couple working on the weeds and falling leaves. Pretty soon winter.
I have an almost going on 3 GD that is enthralled with - of all things - porcupines! Uh huh, porcupines. DD & DSIL have taken GD to the Nashville Zoo & the St Louis Zoo at least 5 times in the last 2 yrs. She loves the rodent! DD goes to UTube and GD sits and watches the postings of porcupines there. I've searched but only have found hedge hogs on fabrics. Would anyone know where I could purchase fabric with porcupines on it. I've even searched under the words "woodland creatures" but th… Continue
