- I consider myself a beginner at quilting although I learned how more than 5 years ago. I work full time, so with working and running a household, quilting truly is a hobby not a full time enjoyment. That's why I am still a novice. I have never machine quilted a quilt, only small items, I have hand quilted two full size quilts so far, that is time consuming, but the joy of the finished product is more than I can express. The joy is in the doing, the time spent making a memory. Machines rob you of that special joy. I might just stick with hand quilting. It takes longer, but the rewards are well worth it.
