I went on a nearly-two-hour road trip with a friend today - to Courtenay, BC where there is a store called "Hot Chocolate". It was cold, windy and raining. I directed my friend to 5th Street. She is unfamiliar with Courtenay. We got out and wandered to where Hot Chocolate had been and IT WASN'T THERE!!!!! I had a lovely dinner and visit with Pat from the UK and her husband. We were not able to figure out the connection based on the limited information I have, but we think it goes back to my great-great grandfather. Further research is required. I gave them some copies of old family photos and I think I saw a *very* slight resemblance between Pat's husband and my grandfather ... !

Tomorrow I will meet a relative of some degree who is also a member of QWU. She is coming to Vancouver, BC Canada from England to go on an Alaskan cruise. We don't yet know how we are related, but I am sure we will be able to figure it out. It's probably at least 3 or 4 generations back. I am very excited to meet her!

A few years ago, on one of the first lovely, warm summery days in July, I saw a sign advertising "cheeries" above a basket of beautiful, black, juicy cherries. I thought "how true - cheeries". Nothing says "cheery" quite like "cherries".
