About Me
I have been sewing for over 50 years! I can't believe I just said that! I love working at Connecting Threads and being inspired by all of the creative, fun people who work here. I am a designer for Connecting Threads and design many of the free patterns that are included in our kits. I like to sew everything but have focused the last few years on quilts.

In my spare time, I like to paint ( watercolors, oils and acrylics). I like to sculpt - especially santas, and build miniature furniture (think doll house size). I've been married to a super guy for 43 years who doesn't mind late dinners (or let's get serious, no dinners) and who has supported every one of my creative whims. We have 4 grown children. One of them, Kristin, also designs patterns for Connecting Threads. How lucky am I?!
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, general sewing
My Pets
One psycho cat named Roxie.

Sooooo Glad It's Finished!

It seemed like this would never get finished. Even though I forgot one of the border strips and I accidentally smashed a bug on it I really like it now. Even though I gave Judy a bad time for picking this project for our group I'm glad I made it.

Quilt Challenge

Now that I have Judy's quilt quilted I can jump into another "neverending" project - can't I? Just nod your heads in agreement. I fell in love with Sylvia's Bridal Sampler from Elm Creek Quilts and have talked a few of my co-workers (Mari, Judy, MaryJo, and a definite "maybe" from Karen) into doing it with me. Wouldn't you just love to join us as we try to make 140 DIFFERENT blocks? Again, just nod your heads in agreement. It really will be fun! I promise! I will be making my blocks from… Continue

RV'ers?

I started a group ("On the Road Again Quilters") for people who like to take trips in their RV to add to their stash and who might also do a little piecing/quilting along the way. I have a tiny space now that might allow me to set up my sewing machine. I'm looking for ideas for a narrow folding table that can be put away when not in use. My husband thinks I'm a little nuts but I think it will be fun. I don't like just sitting around watching the campfire send smoke my way. Any ideas?

Hi Darlene, I think that the town you are looking for is Columbia, Mo. It just dawned on me when I was reading Your posts again. Hope everything is going okay.

Your Northwind C-7 really messed with my mind! I like yours a lot better than the one out of the book.

Hi Darlene,
I'm really enjoying the slacker's SBS group and have about 50 blocks done. I got my new CT catalog and my husband saw your Bermuda Triangles quilt and asked me to make it to keep his little tootsies warm at night. The kit arrived and it's beautiful! Of course I had to get a set of fat quarters in Sweet and Sour in addition to the kit. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the design of this one.
Thanks - Lynda

Oh, okay then it should NOT be 14 hours! I could see the look on your face when you read 14 hrs. "Does she ride a bike everywhere or what?" I am not sure where Columbus Mo is close to. I think it is in the northern section of Mo. You can use mapquest.com to find out. But I am sure that you already know that!?! I'll visit with you soon.

Hey,
I just got a gift card for my birthday from my sister. Have been wanting to do the Sylvia's Bridle Quilt and have the book, but was wanting to do it as a kit or club. My sister gave the gift card to this company because she thought they were doing it as a block of the month, where you send the quilt and pattern monthtly, but I cannot find on the site where you order this and how much it is. Can you help me figure this out.

Thanks,
Nancy Hamby

History, psychology and education? Wow, you were ambitious. No wonder you knew about the 54-40 or fight history. I thought you googled it or something. You really do have a talent for designing quilts.
Hoppy quilting!

Darlene, I don't know how you do everything, and have time to chat with everyone. You are a talented person. Have you already done all the blocks for "Slackers"?

Yup, commission. You would be rich if you made commission. So, do you go to school for designing quilts? And matching colors and patterns so nicely? I wish I had known that, I would have chosen that major instead of accounting. Actually, I didn't quilt when I went to college, so either way, I guess I am stuck with my accounting, and the fun stuff at night. I still have to order the kit, and Kristin's fishey quilt. What a talented family!
Hoppy quilting!
