What ways do you mark your quilts for quilting? What are the best products for marking your quilts? If any of you have suggestions, I would be interested in them.Continue

Need help with the Quilt Artist

Posted on November 25, 2012 at 10:12am 1 Comment

Hi everyone! I have a Quilt Artist and have quilted one quilt and am half way through the second one. As I was getting ready to start my pantograph it came up with a motor error 0x02. The machine moved to the start stitch point and paused. If anyone has anything that I could try I would appreciate it. If not I guess I am out of commission until Monday when I can contact my dealer for help. Thanks in advance.

Quilt Artist II

Posted on August 21, 2012 at 7:56am 4 Comments

Hi! I am new to LA quilting. I have purchased the Quilt Artist II and am trying to make a continuous pattern across the quilt. I have done a pattern repeat and then merged it and I have to cut my thread after every repeat. Is that how it works or should it sew the repeats all across one row? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there any websites that have information on it? Thank you. Debbie

8K Harvest Run and 50th Birthday

Posted on September 13, 2011 at 6:29am 7 Comments

Back in March my daughter asked me what I wanted to do for my 50th birthday. I said that I didn't want to have a big party. She commented back with "Maybe you would like to run a 5K". I said me? run? Ha ha. So about a week went by and I thought hmmm maybe I should try it. So I told my daughter that I was considering it and the next day in my email was a training schedule from her. Well now I had to do it.When we registered  they ask for your age on race day (my birthday was the day after the… Continue

Debbie you might love this garment. It's a child sweatshirt pattern, open front center the fleece is your backing and just make it crazy patch or any design you like, I've made an adult one with strip 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2.0 inch widths from scraps turned out great. Many compliments. Very easy, put lots of compliments.

Debbie, you'll hate me for saying this,  water tanks have flame underneath for heating up the water.. The pile of fabric is very close and can be hazardous, also if it tips over, it will break the white tubing along tank which cuts of your hot water. Just having a techn come in is costly.  Their has been some tanks amongst quilters that started a fire her whole house burnt down. Always a good idea to have them check.. Since her house incident I keep watch on mine.

You like puzzles, are you aware with EQ5 and EQ7 quilt program there is a place to enter a picture where program breaks it up in pixels meaning picture is broken into little squares for you to recreate the picture with fabric as in puzzle. The program breaks down the amt of fabric and number template to get it done.. I self taught with lots of knowledge making the project is another class.

You asked about a pattern for my "Rainbow After the Storm" quilt - I used graph paper and colored pencils to get the colors laid out the way I wanted them.  I believe the total size of the quilt was 120 inches square.

Debbie..thank you so much for the information. I loved the way yours came out, and am going to try to duplicate the pattern.  I have tons of scraps to work with.

HI Debbie........I love the last quilt you posted.  It is beautiful.  I have a huge bin of different size stripes, and think that would be a great quilt to make. Can you tell me what size the string blocks are and what size the 9 patches are?  Thank you.   Did you come up with the pattern yourself?  You did such a great job.

Thanks.  Linda

If you ever want to meet over coffee just let me know.  I've been going to Crafty Lady since the day she opened and know the owner fairly well.  I rarely shop at our quilt store anymore though I used to enjoy it when it was more active and not just a place that carries some fabric.  The Blackfalds one is great.
