I'm the exact opposite when it comes to finishing quilts. I make myself crazy finishing things so I can go on to something else. I've only ever had two projects going at once and it just drove me insane. So I work like a dog to get one finished and then start on something else. My husband says he only knows what the back of my head looks like. That's all he sees when he walks past my sewing room on his way to bed!
Yes you would LOVE the show in Rosemont. When I was there I had to keep wiping the drool off my face. I was a real rookie when I attended. I'd only been quilting a couple of years and had no idea how fabric could be manipulated so many ways. It's really worth the trip. There is also a very good show in Madison in September. I only go every other year. They have some great classes and are all really reasonable price wise.
You are so lucky to belong to a good guild. We have a very large one here in DBQ and I went to one meeting. I didn't get a welcoming feeling from the group. Most of them had been members for a very long time and they had a tendancy to stay in their little group. I've found most quilters to be very friendly, but this group just wasn't. A real shame, but I really like our group on line here.
Debbie-We'd love to have you join. We've got some members from Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and I think Oregon. I've had a really good time with these ladies. They're a fun bunch, helpful and knowledgable.
So tell me, the applique in your picture, is it needle turn or raw edge? I've only done raw edge. I've tried needle turn, but just can't get the hang of it!
Are you planning on going to the International Quilt Expo in Chicago in April? I was thinking about going. I did some looking at the class schedule and any of the classes that I would like to take are on Thursday. I know I don't have to work that Thursday, but I have to work late on Wednesday and I really don't like to drive at night, (old age is kicking my butt!) so I'm on the fence about coming your way for the classes on Thursday. I'd still like to get over there to at least see the quilts on display. I went about 4 years ago and it was awesome. If you are interested, we could maybe meet up. I grew up in Joliet, but I'll probably stay with a friend of mine in the city. That way I can just take the train to the show.
Well welcome to our group and hope that you have some fun!!
