About Me
I have been quilting for 25+ years. I used to work at our local quilt shop where I taught embroidery software and beginning quilting classes. Now I have my own pattern company, Sew Simple Patterns and you can find my patterns at Connecting Threads, JoAnn Fabrics, Hancock fabrics and on the McCall Patterns quilt website. I love to quilt and come up with new pattern ideas. I've been married for 35 years and have two boys, 27 and 30. I also love to read and cook for my family, if hubby does dishes, that is.

Quick Question

Posted on January 31, 2012 at 6:11pm 11 Comments

I have to make about 30 cupcakes tomorrow and since I have boys, we never did get into cupcakes.  (they're pie men)  Anyway,  I have two questions.  Can I bake 12 cupcakes and let the extra batter sit while the first batch is baking and then use tthat batter, say 20 minutes later for another 12?  Or should I go out and get another cupcake tin?.   Okay, that was two questions but I have one more since that was really a 1A and 1B .  Has anyone flavored buttercream frosting?  I'm going to color…

Getting Ready...

Posted on January 30, 2012 at 6:51pm 12 Comments

Well, taxes are done and I thought I'd do a little sewing as a stress reliever.  I bought these two Thirty-One totes for my mom.  She needs a light weight laundry hamper that will fit on her walker seat and I think these will fit the bill.  I got them on their outlet sale so embroidery wasn't available so I made…

S'mores---Fun for the Family

Posted on January 24, 2012 at 7:55am 12 Comments

On Saturday I had a bunch of friends over for wine, hors d'oeurves and desserts and while making everything I started playing around with this chocolate dip stuff you get at the grocery store.  After dipping my stawberries, I had so much chocolate left over I then dip'd those Grissini bread stricks and with more…

My New Discovery.....

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 1:49pm 9 Comments

I only have a few minutes but I just have to share this new discovery with you.  One of the employees at our local shop let me borrow this cute little machine called a "SLICE" FABRIQUE'.  I wasn't so sure I wanted to take this guy home with me but thought...what the heck.  So, I carefully read all instruction,…

New Project

My New project is...............handwork!!!!!

Yikes, that means I have to thread a needle...right?

This is coming from the quilter who pawns off all her binding jobs to friends and family.  Who has become pretty effecient at machine applique to avoid the hand thing.

Well, I did it....Althought I…

Two more done

I don't know if I mentioned before but I've been helping our local quilt shop with a monthly "Sew In" and the owner has named it Sew Simple Sewing.  It's kinda like a table runner of the month club.  The customer gets the pattern for free with the purchase of the class($7) and then they need to purchase a kit…

This is Pinot....my little grand-doggie.  She lives in Tennessee with my son and DIL and she wearing her favorite Seattle Seahawks shirt for Sunday NFL football day.

These are the packages I mailed to them.... when my son opened the box, took out the gifts he said  Pinot sniffed them.... climbed onto one, and…

Can you Smell This?

Posted on December 20, 2011 at 7:10am 14 Comments

Here's the bread I made yesterday.  Lost of "new" things going on with it.  I bought a new baking stone...Emile Henry from France.  Got it with a gift card from my secret sister.  It's suppose to be great as it's enameled and won't stain...clean up is easy....great for even heat distribution and so on.  Then I tried a…

Hi Debbie, While in AZ, I left some patterns at a couple of different quilt shops. One seemed really interested and they also have your card. Hope something works out with them. There is a quilt shop in Brenda, AZ that is in a little town near Quartsite. They had a very nice show with quilters from several RV parks. I didn't have the pattersn with me that day, or they would have taken some. The quilt shop is Unique Design Quilt Shop in Brenda, AZ.  and another one is River Bling Quilt Shop in Parker, AZ. Sorry that I don't have their e-mail address, but maybe you can find then online. We had a terrific time while gone and the weather was spectatular. Hope things are going well for you.

Hugs, Sharon

Hi Debbie, Just wondering have you heard from Pinot? Is she sleeping on her pillowcase?

Ooops!  I need to keep up with my page.  Sorry I didn't see your messages.  Yes, I have a Bernina Aurora 430 that I bought a few years ago and now a new Bernina 830 with all the bells and whistles.  It's waaay too much machine for me, sorta like going from a clunker to a Mercedes.  I'm very intimidated by it!

You sure have it right about wind in ND.  We lucked out and missed the snow other than a light dusting but the cold air sure came in with plenty of wind. Had to break out a longer coat today. Haven't broken down and put on the boots yet but that may have to happen soon.  I am going to a quilting retreat with fellow long arm quilters this weekend. Some of them started today but I am waiting until after work tomorrow to join in the fun. We usually meet one Saturday a month to share ideas and do educational stuff related to long arm quilting but this is just for fun working on sewing our own projects with some education on different applique techniques.

That is awesome Debbie, I am glad you like it!!  Keep me posted when you send it to Pinot and if pics are taken and she sleeps on it, I just have to see it.  This little dog is just the cutest thing ever!!!!!!

Debbie, Loved the "hairy" story of the pugs!  Long ago, and far away, I had a Dalmatian (white with black spots, you know).  Tiny white hairs everywhere -- in all seasons!  Brushing did not help unless you wanted to breathe them in.  That dog was a continuously running hair factory.  I didn't wear dark clothes for years.  Loved him and still  miss him.  When my cat has gone to kitty heaven (she's 15 and in no hurry to leave), I may get another dog, but it will definitely be a non-shedding one.  Have a happy New Year!
