I've been quilting off and on for about 16 years. I'm self taught (kind of). By this I mean that I learned to quilt by watching Eleanor Burns on TV when my kids were small. I would tape her programs and then watch them while the kids were napping. After a full year of watching Eleanor I decided to try a quilt on my own and found I loved it. Thank you Eleanor Burns. I had always sewn clothes, but quilting was much more creative and satisfying. Now the kids are all grown but I've gone back to school. So I quilt when I get a chance, but not nearly as much as I would like to. I belong to the Hayes Ohio Star Quilt Guild in Fremont, Ohio and I do the newsletter for our guild. I also belong to a hand applique group that meets once a month. I have always sent my quilts out to be quilted but would like to hand quilt my own quilts. I have an E-Z quilting frame but have been kind of scared to try my hand at hand quilting. So I'm hoping joining this group will inspire me to get over my fears and start. I just need that initial push.
