Presidential Inauguration

Posted on January 25, 2009 at 1:30pm 2 Comments

I just returned from Washington, D.C. It was very exciting to witness the historical event. In anticipation of the cold my daughter and I made Quillows. (Quilts that fold into pillows). We added handles to make them easier to carry. My grandaughter liked them so much, she insisted on making her own. While my daughter and I made ours the traditional way, with cotton and batting, my granddaughter took a shortcut and used cotton and fleece. (no batting).

Donna, thank you for the warm comment on my MLK. It was a joy to make. I was about 11 yrs. old when he was assassinated, but I vaguely remember watching the speech he made that day on tv.
I would like to contact his family about this piece; maybe one day... and you are right, ribbons aren't everything.
Thanks again,

Thanks Donna, just looked at one on line and decided to try that. I am still working on the pocket as I am making it from a quilt block that I will applique their initial onto. That way there will be no guessing whos is whos. Thanks I appreciate your time
Have a great evening, well what is left of it.

Hi Donna, I do love your portrait of your son. Nice work! My son just rescued a puppy from the Dallas Animal Shelter that is Dach/Chihuahua. He called it a Chi-Weenie. He's got another that is a Chihuahua/Corgy mix too.

Hi Donna,
Just a quick question, where did you get the quillow pattern? I have two girls from church and 6 grandchildren coming so thought I would make them quillows. I would appreciate the information..

Donna, I really love the idea of you making Quillows for your grandchildren for the cold DC weather. Those quillows will have a story of their own to tell. Congrats to your daughter and granddaughter, also. The handles were a great idea! Do you have a label on the back to tell where the quilt went? It would be a wonderful family keepsake.

Thank you, and I'm glad you're feeling better. It's tough when you're sick and want to sew. I had to stop work on a Christmas quilt that I didn't finish, but I look at it this way, I'm ahead of the game for this year.

We are both lucky to live close to an International Quilt festival. I get too many good ideas and spend too much money!!
