Hello All!

Just thought I would take a minute to wish all my quilting friends out there a Happy Valentine's Day. I think I will spend my day to myself and get some serious quilting done.

30's Fabrics

Posted on February 11, 2009 at 5:32am 2 Comments

Well, I too had a senior's moment. I was in great dialogue with Elaine, (if I remembered her name) about 30's fabrics. Somehow I deleted something and now can't find her. We both shared a love for 30's fabrics. She put it so well by saying it is happy fabric.

If you are out there contact Doreen in Niagara Falls, duh!!!

Monday morning plans

Good Monday morning

I know I have said this before, it is Monday, the temperature is 40 degrees, the sun in out and the snow is melting, I am going to get down to some serious quilting. We'll see.
I have never tried the disappearing 9 patch so went on line to see what it was, liked it and printed it off. It will be a great way to use of my rather large fabric stash.
I let you all know how successful I am at getting started.

A Monday good morning to all

Posted on January 26, 2009 at 8:26am 1 Comment

Good morning!!

It is a nice sunny day here in Niagara Falls, -11c and the sun always makes me want to get into my quilting so after my daily walk I plan on working on a quilted bag from the book "Let's Do Lunch". I love this book and plan on making a few projects from it, and get this, not buying any fabric! My plans are to reduce my stash especially the fat quarters.
Hopefully I'm successful.

Hi Doreen Lamb

I'm still around and quilting.  Did you try the tumbling blocks done in strips and no y seams.  Glad you like the  diddapearing 9 patch.  You can do so much withit.   Hope allthose storms we see on TV have passed you by. Being in  Northern Ont. we get some bad ones.  It makes for a good time to sit tight and quilt or just plan,Hope all others out there are using this time to do some quilting or like me try to finish UFOs (I'm sure they multiply on the shelf)

I'll try to keeo in touch.   Roberta   Thunder Bay

Doreen I notice you live in Niagara Falls - not too far from me in Brantford. It is so interesting to see where our Canadian Friends live!
I notice in an earlier blog that you collect 30 fabric. I'm trying to find out a bit of information about this type of fabric. I have aqquired at one of our guild auctions sale to raise funds - some fabric and I think it maybe genuine 30 or feed bag fabric. What I have is like the fabric that they sale now for 30ths fabric but it is only 36" wide and seems in good condition. Of course it was in a bag and I thought I was getting something different - anyway anything for a good cause. So I want to get rid of it or swap with someone do you know a web site where I may get some one who might be interested?

hi doreen! nice to meet you! thanks for your kind comments. i think my little dude will still fit in the basket, but its hard to get him to stay still that long these days. he's a busy busy boy. you are so lucky to have a circle of quilting friends. i have been quilting for about the same amount of time, and even though i lived in edmonton where you would think i'd be able to meet lots of quilting buddies, i never have. i would love to have some friends that i could 'stitch and bitch' with!
do you have any photos of your work? i'd love to see what you've done.

Hi Doreen, Thanks for being my friend. And for liking my quilts. Berlin OH is about 2 1/2 hours from where I live. It's south of me. I haven't been to Amish Country in a long time. My sister-in-law would go a few times a year with a friend to a quilting retreat. I was never invited to go, but since I've never seen a finished quilt that she had done I am probably not missing anything(Do I sound bitter? My brother did say that she never finishes anything,so it's not just me). Have a great day.
