Snow in Upstate NY

Posted on April 28, 2010 at 12:30pm 4 Comments

April 28th...Woke up this morning to about 5 inches of snow on the ground. Good thing it is quilting day for my church group. We meet every Wed. from 10:00 - 2:30 or so and work on individual projects helping each other as needed. We talked about gardening, but that is for sometime in the future. Quilting is our stress buster! (When I previewed this post, I noticed that the time was off. It is actually 3:30 here.)

Sit down "Long Arm" Quilter??

Posted on March 7, 2010 at 4:00pm 2 Comments

I would love to have a long arm quilter, but do not have room in my home for a frame. I am looking into the HQ16, Tin Lizzie and Bailey Home Quilter. All of these can be used without a frame. If anyone is using one of these, I would appreciate reading your comments and opinions. I am presently doing some machine quilting on my domestic machine, but the small throat distance is hampering!

Hi Dorothy, Thank you for your comment.  We are blessed.  My youngest daughter is a kindergarten in Northern Calif.  I just started quilting 3 years ago and I'm hooked.  I love your pictures.  God bless you too.

While you wait to make a decision on which LA you want  a "Supreme Slider and a pair of Machingers gloves" will help you get the quilt through the small area with less friction and more control.  I still use my domestic for smaller pieces even some of the bed quilts. If you want to know what they look look like let me know and I'll put a picture on my page.

Thank you for coming bye and commenting on the QOV Dorothy.  I'm taking some time to do a quilt for me so I won't be quilting any QOV for awhile.   I noticed you are looking into a long arm.  I have a Tin Lizzie 18 LS, they just came out with the new ESP after I got mine.  If I may be so bold, go for the HQ16, my LA has had some major design problems that I've had to fix, or modify.  I use a high stool at times but would love to have a sit down model too.

Hi Dorothy,

Was just looking at your photos. Love the chickadees! Also like the "Back of Ugly". Is that a large Ohio Star block? I think it is a very striking quilt. Your  quilts are all very pretty.

Hugs, Linda

Hi Dorothy,  Not sure where Newcomb is.  I moved here from Maine a year ago and not that familiar with all the towns around me.  I am slowly learning though.  I love to do the Stack N Whack quilts, runners, handbags.  Want to do a Cival War quilt but haven't yet.  Have been wanting to join a quilting group but haven't done that either, I do miss that as I belonged to several groups in Maine.   I also love to embroider (I do have an embroidery machine) and also combine a lot of designs with my quilts, runners, etc.   Rachel, from Lake Luzerne...
