Successful Quilter's Day Out

The Kentucky Quilter’s Day Out event in Louisville yesterday was wonderful. There were many show and brag, door prizes, quilt challenge viewing & judging, demos, quilt shop vendors, long arm dealers, food, free coffee & cookies, good friends, and many stories to be told. My estimate on attendance is 600+. Fun day for all able to attend.

Funny Babies

Hope you enjoy making Funny Babies. It takes a good deal of time to create all the applique babies and button hole stitch them down. It took me forever but it turned out so cute.

I have a Dell laptop - I've had it for 3 or 4 years. I've carried to Mexico and back 2 or 3 times. I backup 2 sometimes 3 times each week, but I've only had to "restore from backup" once. Problems always seem to come down to "operater error". DH has been trying to "convert" me to a MAC. My accounting software works best on a PC although they have adapted it to MAC. I have no clue what the difference is between the two.

If I can figure out how to do the postcards that would be nice, Hope to hear from you Paula

Thanks Elaine. Glad you liked my table runner. First time Bargello and wasn't sure about the colours when I put them together. I liked it when I had it finished but wondered what others would think.

Isn't there some kind of fairly large tool for smocking? I think I remeber seeing something in a catalog at some time.

Check out Karens' blog titled "I've been busy" One of the pictures she has there is of her holding a baby. (Belongs to a co-worker, I think) Anyway - it's a boy and he's wearing a hat that's like one of the blocks in the boy version of Funny Babies. Makes me want to make a single block wallhanging for one - or maybe both of some friends who are expecting boys in a month or so.

If you ever get the chance, read her book. She's very funny. I bet she would be a great stand-up commedienne. Within her explanation of her technique, she often inserts a phrase or story that will make you laugh - keeps you reading further. That could be the reason I went through her book as well as I did without getting bored like I often do when reading a book.
I went to the fabric store today and another customer was able to show me how to do a french knot. I'll probably use those for the babies' eyes.

I use the glue stick for the applique technique that I use. Check out Beth Ferriers' book called Hand applique by machine. I like her technique alot.

Only one more Funny Babies block to get done. First I have to get to the fabric store (or office supply store) and get a new glue stick!
