About Me
Started quilt class 06/2007 and have completed the class project and two quilts I gave as gifts last Christmas. I proudly mention those three first because I also have about 9 quilts in all stages of progress. I prefer to think of myself as a genius at starting new projects!
My reason for learning to quilt was the Seven Sisters Star pattern. I began making one (by hand) in July 2007, before I knew the term EPP. I used freezer paper after my paper kept coming loose. Couldn't stick to plan as how to finish it so it is still waiting for me.
I get really energetic about beginning a new project. So much so that, several family members know I have a quilt in progress for them yet no longer ask me how theirs is coming along since I seem to start a new one and put theirs on the shelf. :O
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, hand quilting, machine quilting
My Pets
Mouzer - was a skinny stray black cat, now he's our 16lb son

Oblivious heirs = my good fortune

I went to my first estate sale Friday by suggestion of an antique collecting BIL. Not sure of what to expect or how to make deals, I think I did very well. I came across two 22 gallon storage containers overstuffed with fabric! The story from the young (and oblivious) man and woman was that their mother had kept her mothers' projects and fabrics stored for decades. Their grandmother passed in '69, so all of these items were from the 1930-60s. ( I found her newpaper templates that are dated and h… Continue

Yes, red. I seldom purchase solids unless I have a project in mind. Went to Hancock's and they did not have any Kona Cotton in red. Picked up a half yard of what they did have, but not totally thrilled with the heft of it. On Monday I have to go to Jo Ann's to get something for DH, so I will see if they have the Kona in a Christmas red. I did have a piece of red in my stash, but when I ironed it, it turned a darker color and put off that distinctive poly-blend odor. And I would rather use 100% cotton if I can.
Congrats on your estate find.

Sounds like you enjoy handwork. I'm working on an EPP project and I'm finding it kind of boring because of the handwork. It's a great thing to have around for a portable project but I'm guessing I won't be doing alot of it. I know what you mean by a starter and not a finisher - that's me too. Recently, I was nosing around on Etsy.com and was surprised to see the number of quilt tops that were for sale. The photo of the quilt for Mike & Pam is a close up - it's the corner where 4 blocks meet. I need to get a better picture of that one. I'll be able to do that soon - I've been invited to join Pam and Izzy (Their oldest daughter) for Trick or Treat!

You mentioned that you have primarily solid fabrics and not alot of prints. I'm curious - how long have you been quilting? When I was new to quilting, I used srtictly solids - prints were kind of scary to me.

Thanks Evelyn.I found Lynda @ Sew Contempo last weekend when I was bored out of my mind. In fact, I will be there next Saturday to pick up the new sewing machine she is selling me! LOL. Don't worry about the late reply, I have been so busy. We had the new carpet put in and our household good delivered so I have been arranging furniture and unpacking boxes.

We were in Texas City yesterday, but I didn't bring the address for the quilt shop. plan on checking that one out soon. Thanks for all the info!

Oh and Happy late Birthday!
