About Me
I am a sponge for quilty knowledge, I love to absorb, then share.

"Quilting is a way to set me free, lately I'm bound to my UFO's" GRskeeter

I quilt, I breath, I honestly need friends around me.

Married my high school sweet heart for 22years. Then he decides he did want me anymore, only married me to raise his children. I thought we'd be together til one of us passed, at least that is what he promised. Divorced 2013.

I have a son, Kev Plus His wife Jess and two wonderful Grandsons. And my daughter Caryn, which has her CNA...which I miss them both but they need to respect and love me without causing hurt. I give them all I can but I am learning boundaries.

While I was growing up, running away from pulling thread through a needle and sitting there sewing and watching the tractor outside, my Grandmother tried to get me to sew. Only I was not having it. I wake up and run out for the woods, barn loft, or creek. I only wished now I actually paid attention to her sewing and quilting work. My other Grandmother was into other crafts like crochet, rock people, needle point, and the list can go from there. Art was my passion in school. Creativity came easier than science or chemistry. When I married, I got tired of him stealing all the blankets so I marched down to JoAnn's and on my own, I attempted my fist sad quilt. I have it hidden so don't ask.

Then I saw a Quilt program with Eleanor Burns and I started reading books at the library and things from what my Grandmother did and what the books actually had names for started to work together.

I took a class with Nancy at Grand that covered almost everything on quilting. Grandma always said I could never get my points (I never understood what that meant). I made this entire step by step quilt and grew confident and Nancy said "you just need to know terms". I got my points on that quilt and was so Proud when I presented and gave it to my Grandmother. She noticed about getting my points finally and how beautiful it was. When she passed I got it back and it is on my wall. So I quilt because, my Grandmother installed it in me.

But a few years ago I learned my Great Grandmother and her mother were well known quilter's for their day. My Grand Aunt has shared photos with me of them quilting and teaching. So it's in my Blood! I have great pride in my work and I find it VERY hard to let go of a piece.

Note: My Dunkin passed on Oct of 2010. I am dedicating all my work under his approval. I will have a Paw image for embroidery onto each quilt. He was so important to me. He helped me recognize a seizure before I have one. My heart has been through so much in one year!

But Now my Cat, Saddie has taken the job of taking Care of Mommie. She really is a Medical CAT! and let's me know when I need to "cut" back.

That's me in a nut shell. I hope All the people I meet are as wonderful as I am in love with Passion for Quilting.
Hobbies and Interests

My Cat, Saddie is FAT and loves to quilt. her version, laying herself all over the top, Yep Mom, this top is Approved. So I'm thinking of adding a little pink print to my label.

I read your blog and at first thought you were just mad and venting until I read all the responses.  Hope you were just having a "bad husband day."  I've been married for 35 years and there are times that I'm so mad I could strangle him.  He's one who "I'm sorry" isn't in his vocabulary.  If he's wrong, he makes a joke about it or somehow turns it around and blames it on me.  I love him dearly and wouldn't trade him for anyone in the world but I certainly understand how angry you were.  Somebody says to talk it out but that never works for me because he clams up and won't talk.  Hope today is better.  Go in your sewing room and shut the door.  Then give him hell under your breath!  Good luck...............

Sounds like you are depressed (not wanting to move from the couch etc.) Have you considered some counseling? or maybe a heart to heart chat with hubby? "honey we need to talk..."...focus on feelings.."I feel hurt when.." you don't apologize..."I love you but lately I feel....sad, angry, disappointed,lonely..." .....don't lie around waiting for him to apologize....address it....good luck my dear...

Regina, I have a floor frame and a longarm so that I can do what you want. I can hand quilt or La.   Different quilts call for different techniques.  I loved seeing your slideshow.  What kind of dog is Dunkin?  She is so cute.

I love the poem and your quilts (quilted and unquilted) I liked the picture of the cat laying on the fabric. Hang in there as we all have a lot of UFO's and fabric stash. I even have some of both from my mother who passed away in the early 90's.
