About Me
Married to my gorgeous husband Rick. I have two grown girls, Monica and Ericka, and a beautiful 9 yr old grandson, Gabriel, my angel. I love being a housewife. I've been quilting for about 16 years and am absolutely addicted to fabric! I sew on a Bernina 150QE. I love the piecing part of the process, my quilting usually gets sent out if it's larger than a wallhanging. I'm looking forward to making some new online quilting buddies and hoping that by joining an online community, it'll inspire me to finish my project! Good luck to all!
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, hand quilting, machine quilting, embroidery, gardening, other, general crafts
My pets are awesome!
We love our dogs. Gracie, Maggie, and Teryn. We believe in adoption from shelters. There are too many dogs out there just waiting for a good home. Please always consider adoption as an alternative to buying puppies from pet stores or irresponsible breeders. Thanks!

Not Having a Good Day...

Posted on February 24, 2009 at 9:31am 2 Comments

Does anyone know anything about wool besides not to put it in the dryer? I somehow accidently put one of my all-time favorite little wool sweaters in the dryer. I realized the mistake not too long afterwards and pulled it out. Unfortunately, 15 minutes in the dryer had already done much damage. The sleeves had always been too long, now they are just right, but the back and sides, (oh dear) well looks like they could fit a 3 year old. SAD SAD day...

Does anyone know if it can be stretched… Continue

Valentine's Weekend

Posted on February 13, 2009 at 5:44pm 0 Comments

Well the weekend's finally here...thank goodness! Hoping to finally get crackin' on my Southern Stars blocks. I've been so looking forward to starting them and somehow this project gets pushed aside every weekend. I will definitely be going with the 30's fabrics and am so excited to see how they turn out. We don't have a digital camera but my husband's phone takes some pretty decent pictures so hopefully we can download a few pics once I get them done. I'm anxious to see them take shape and… Continue

Wintry Day

Posted on January 27, 2009 at 12:54pm 3 Comments

Hello to all...some of you reading this would get a kick out of what we call "Winter" down here in San Antonio Texas, but it's cold today! We had a coldfront blow in this morning and it dropped the temps pretty fast and we're getting a little drizzle too, possibly some sleet tonight. What we need is some heavy duty rain. We've been in drought mode for too long. I've forgotten what it sounds like to lay in bed and listen to the rain hit the tin roof on our deck. Something soothing about… Continue

One block at a time...

Posted on January 19, 2009 at 9:00am 1 Comment

I work one day a week at a quilt shop and belong to several block of the month clubs, but guess what? I signed up for the Southern Stars quilt-a-long online too...because I don't have enough unfinished projects sitting around my sewing room! I was excited to receive my pattern in the mail last week. It looks fairly straightforward, the hard part for me will be picking out fabrics. I can't decided whether to go with civil war type fabrics or a more sunny 1930's type of fabric, but it's… Continue

Hi Gloria, I just got my computer back yesterday after being out for repair for a month. I have MISSED THIS SITE SO BAD. I loved looking at the pictures of your sewing room. I spend allot of time in mine, since I take in alterations. I perfer smaller quilting projects but have made two large quilts as well. I have been sewing since 1965 but have only been quilting for about 5-6 years. I'm doing a bit of procrastinating today. My ladies bible study was canceled due to slippery roads. It is snowing out there and most of our ladies are elderly so we canceled. When I have a plan and it gets canceled I tend to think of it as a "do nothing day" lol I agree with you about adopting our pets from shelters. I have a 12 year old golden retriever/springer spaniel mix that I got in our local shelter when he was 8 years old. I fostered him for a week and fell in love with him and ended up keeping him. I have a plaque that reads. "The dog and his staff lives here" lol For being old and "bad mannered" when we got him he has turned into a very loyal, well mannered "control freak" lol We love taking him with us in the car. I now refer to my car as the "dog mobile". lol You take care and have fun sewing. Irene Gallway

...and after checking your pictures you look like a Kindred Spirits kind of gal, so you probably know all about them and more....Send us a picture if you decide to use your "new fabric".....

I love both of the stores in Katy. Old Town Katy has the Feathered Star and on Mason Rd. you will find Quilt and Sew. Both have websites and directions. Make sure you check the times that the Feathered Star is open--strange hours. Got to work in the yard today--cold and beautiful. All my antique roses are trimmed. Beds in the "front" of the house are great. Backyard is a whole different story. Much work needed to be done. Take care. Have tons of fun in Katy.

Hi Gloria,
Was just browsing photos and saw some of your work. Then I saw you - you can't possibly be old enough to have a grandchild! You look so young! Welcome to the community!

Hi Gloria .. just read your note posted and so glad to meet you. You have more experience then I so I am looking forward to learning from you from others in the group.

Yes, I understand about having to put it all in the day you feel good, because you don't know what is ahead. But God knows and he watches over us and gives us the strength to get through. I can always feel His Hand on mine, somehow!

I am glad to see that it hasn't stopped you from doing the things you love.so keep on going!! I have looked at your postings of pictures and you are very talented!!

Take care and God Bless

Thank you Gloria for the nice comment. I hope you win the lottery. How do you like living in Texas? We were just there and we looked at homes. But we have to sell this home first.
I'm addicted to fabric too! I call it my eye candy. =)
