My first October finish! Scrappy Hearts Quilt

Here is my first finish for October! These were swap blocks from back in February this year. I pieced the top together in either August or September and just finished the binding this morning! I am so proud of myself for all of these finishes. I had always been intimidated by machine quilting but since I started hand basting with thread instead of pins it has worked so much better for me. I was going through youtube one day and found a Sharon Schaumburg hand basting video and it works great for… Continue

2 more finishes for September

I finished adding the binding to these 2 baby quilts the other day. I pieced them but I can not take the credit for the quilting. That was done by my wonderful friend Shirley. I just love how she quilted the turtles in the yellow brick road quilt. You can click on the pictures and it will open a larger view of it in a pop-up window.

This is for my baby girl due to arrive the end of this year. The quilt block is the Alabama Block and Shirley quilted it with a wonderful flower.… Continue

September finishes!

I have been really busy working on some UFO's that have been laying around my sewing room. I think that I have finally reached the 'too much energy' part of my pregnancy. That or I am nesting already and trying to accomplish something before this baby girl shows up the end of December. Anyways, these were tops that I did machine quilting on. All blocks are from swaps, and I still have 2 more tops waiting to be completed with LOTS of more swap blocks waiting to become tops. Enjoy the pictures!… Continue

Completed Mystery Quilt Top

This was the first mystery that I have participated in and it was so much fun and I just loved how it turned out. Now comes the quilting part which takes the longest for me to do. I tried to convince my husband last night that I needed a quilting frame with a midarm but he didn't fall for it. I will have to try again later. Anyways here it is! I went to my local quilt shop and just fell in love with the Moda Tranquility fabric collection and just had to buy it.

Challenge Quilt Top

I have been busy the last week or so making a challenge quilt top for an online quilting group that I am a member of. The challenge was to make a top, any size you like, using at least 4 different fabrics and the alabama block. I found the cutest fabrics in my stash and just had to use them. I am going Wednesday to buy batting and backing so that I can start on basting and then quilt it.

Thanks for looking!

Hi Heather,
After I saw your scrappy hearts quick I enjoyed looking at all your projects. My goodness you are a busy lady! All the best to you with your almost-here baby. My boys are 9 and 13 yrs old and I feel like I'm just getting some time to myself now. Keep on sewing!

Thanks for commenting on my 54-40 or Fight quilt. It was a fun one to do. I'm a little slow catching up on QWU this weekend because my girl was home from college. It was so nice having her here and fun to catch up.

Enjoy your time with you little ones. I know the days seem long sometimes, but the time just zips by. I wonder where the years went with my two. It was so fun watching them grow and change and become the young adults they are now.

And speaking of little ones...my birthday is December 11th, so couldja shoot for that with yours? :0)

happy quilting. PQ
