Hello from Maine

Snow flurries here this morning.  Like we need to see that.  But the temps have been warm for the most part. It won't last, so not fretting about it.  Have had a few health problems the past two months. UTI followed by a massive hives breakout from the antibiotic I took for the UTI. The doctor is still trying to get my Cumidin level adjusted back to normal. So it's back and forth to the lab at the hospital trying to get it back to normal.  Bud is on Palliative Care now.  He hasn't been doing…

This is a quilt that was brought to me to put a binding on.  The man's mother died before she got it finished. If anyone can tell me what the star pattern is called I would love to know.  All the books with stars that I have don't have this pattern in it.…

My granddog Katy

I'm dog sitting this weekend.  This is the first time I have met this sweet dog.  I still miss Holly so I'm really loving having Katy here with me.  She is a Pit Bull mix.  She lives in Gordonville Canada.  My son got her from a shelter in Ontario.  He had a hard time getting her to come into the apartment but once he left she and I bonded quickly.  I might lock the door when I see him coming so he can't take her home. lol…

Happy February 1st, Irene! I'm so sorry to hear about your house. It must be awful as you took care of it all those years and then other people "trash" it. People have no respect for other people's property, it seems. I do hope this other gal takes care of it, and know you probably are anxious to sell it and be done with it. Where is Bud now? I've finally reached the binding part of the Irish Chain Quilt. It came out beautifully. I will post a picture as soon as I'm done and get all the basting threads and markings off it. Also, doing some small projects - table topper for Spring and a little table runner, too. Take care of yourself and keep in touch! Hugs, Becky

Hello Irene and Happy New Year! How much snow do you have? We have a couple inches but I think New England and the south have a lot more than we do. It's cold here - down to 7 last night and only 16 right now. Supposed to warm up on Monday and next week. I've been sick (hubby, too) w/upper resp. inf. since before New Years. He's feeling better but mine is hanging on. went to docs on Monday. I'm so tired of hacking, coughing, etc. This too, shall pass - can't come too soon for me. LOL Love you, Becky

Oh Irene, I am so very sorry to hear that you have lost your dear sister. She struggled a long time from what you previously told me about her. She is now at peace with no more pain. I will say a prayer for her. Take care of yourself. Love, Becky

Irene, I wanted to give you my most sincere condolences as you sister slips nto another room.  When we see someone we love suffer it is so difficult to bare, but you now know she is at peace, out of pain and at rest after such a struggle.  I pray that the adjustment for you is a little easier knowing you are supported. Peace be your guide.

Yes I read your post and feel bad for you as you have to travel so much to see everyone. I am now going to ask if anyone would like to help me in an attempt to make the 9 purple quilts for the south Carolina  shootings that took place last year..but so far I have..3 ladies.

Please go on my face book page and see about my niece's daughter..she had a bad surgery on her head...she can't walk or feed herself, or anything else... she is 14 yrs old...how sad.

it is really hot out so my sewing time gets put off,,I really don't want to be in there except when I am finishing my UFO's - I got 6 out of 12 done,,it looks pretty good....now to give them away.!

I may end up giving a quilt to my neice that is in the hospitial. it really doesn't look good...

hope you had a great 4th of July,,we had a great one and I turned 62,,YAY..but I am still working...35 hrs a week...whew! I am tired...but so far it is still good... Dh still works and we are doing just fine,,going home back up north...to visit the grandchildren and our kids...

Be good and keep up the good work you are doing..miss seeing you on here..

So sorry, Irene, for all the heartaches you are going through. Your sister has fought a long and hard battle, but I know it still is not easy to see her in her last days. God will take care of her in his loving arms - take comfort in that she will see him soon and no more pain. Poor little baby - he is with God, too. Yes, we are looking forward to the train trip. We'll be gone a long time, so hope I don't get too homesick. Hugs to you, Becky

Oh Irene,I am so sorry about your sister and praying for her. How sad about her great-granddaughter. So sad. Had she been having any health issues since she was born? Do take care, my dear - I know you have your hands full. Love you, Becky

Thanks Irene.  I'm going to send her a quilt to cover up with when she has her chemo even thought the temps in Vegas are already in the low 100's.  A woman in my quilt guild has been having chemo for ovarian cancer & she said she is just freezing while they are doing the procedure.

That is so sad Irene.  I know it has to be very hard for you to not get really upset with him.  Is there a way for the nursing home staff to take his phone away?  Or would that cause him just more anxiety?

We found out yesterday that our 44 yr old DIL Louise has breast cancer.  She is having a lumpectomy on Tues and then will have radiation & chemo, but I don't know how long after the surgery before that will start.  Our granddaughter is almost 17 and has her own car so I know she will be a great help to her mom.  Our grandson is 11 and is kind of immature as his mom babies him a lot so it will probably take a while before he realizes how serious this is.  He plays on a traveling baseball team and our son is the coach.  They had already made arrangements to play in a tournament in S. California next week so Damon & Louise decided to continue on with those plans.  Her sister is going to spend a few nights with her while Damon & Noah are gone.  They want life to continue to be as normal for the kids as possible for as long as possible, which I think is the right decision.  She found this just by having a routine mammogram so it is a good thing she had one because a lot of women her age don't do that.  We were not planning on making a trip to Las Vegas this year, but we might have to do that if things take a turn for the worse.  I sure hope not!

Hi Irene.  I tried dropping some broad hints to see if Lou Ann would pack up some of that fabric & ship it to me, but she didn't bite.  Oh well, she bought me an entire bolt of fabric years ago when I helped her pack up her sewing room to move to WA.  I was living in Las Vegas & she was living in Henderson, which is a suburb of Vegas, when we met in 1998.  It was very hard for me when she left as we spent a lot of time together.  As close or closer than sisters really.  Her mom is very ill so she has been spending a lot of time in CA taking care of her so she has started knitting a lot more than quilting as it is easier to take back & forth.  I hope she doesn't regret getting rid of most of this later on when her mom passes away!  Has Bud settled down or is he still calling you numerous times a day?  That is such a horrible disease.
